ab0ng commented on the blog post Rev. Irene Monroe: The Boy Scouts of America – another closed door for black GBTQ youth
The explorer scouts do allow females so lesbians are also affected, but to a much lesser degree. Also, you,we are talking about BSA, other countries scouting organizations do not always have the same limits on GBT and sometimes Ls.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Did NOM steal an image from the 1963 March on Washington for its bigotry?
Not identical pictures. Possibly another time of the same day or the same year. The Navy Department buildings are visible off to the left and are no longer there, having been removed in about 1970.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Today’s gun madness – let’s ban hammers; assault weapon ban akin to racism
Sen Johnny Isakson said a gun ban was a knee jerk reaction. I pointed out that buying assault weapons after the shooting was an equally stupid knee jerk reaction.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Off-the-chain fellow Americans – prez election results in state secession petitions; woman rams hubby with car
You said “I doubt most of the people in these states are so deranged that they are willing to foot the bill for their own military “.
However, most of those states have a volunteer Militia. Believe me, I am scared of them.

“…because men are too big and strong to be hitting 96-pound girls”
Doesn’t that make the men to be too big to be hitting 96 pound boys?

At least at the defense contractor I work for, corporate management is blaming it all on congress.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Boy Scouts of America re-commits to official anti-gay bigotry: ‘it is absolutely the best policy’
You are correct about “christian values”. You have to understand that even bigger than the gay exclusion for leaders is the “spiritual” requirement for the boys/girls themselves. If the boy/girl (taking into account the explorers, doesn’t believe in a god, thay cannot be a member of scouting.
And for the rest of the readers, did anyone ever believe that the boy scouts would change their policy just because of a resolution. They have a big enough problem now with natural experimentation.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Allen West: if the government can mandate health care, everyone should be required to have a Glock handgun
Yep, leave it to them Republicans to support foreign countrys instead of supporting our own country. Selling the country to foreign ownership all in the name of making a buck.
Boy, what an American.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Liberty Counsel eagerly smearing transgender community and Macy’s with lies
This is no different than an anti-war (for religious reasons) person goes to work for a defense contractor and then refuses to work on a weapon system.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Should Open Trans Military Service Be A Trans Community Priority?
Is military service not a special part of the larger employment arena. I am not nor have been in the military. I recognize I do not understand the military mind. We hear service, duty, honor, leadership, self sacrifice and many other terms regarding the people who serve in the mlitary. We also hear it called a profession as well as protecting others. Since I do not have the mind or experience of military, I can only surmise and I surmise military service is a very special subset of employment. Equal employment opportunity means equal opportunity for trans people as well to serve.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Cain #FAIL: ‘Show Me The Science’ That Being Gay Is Not a Choice
What type of business man works on “opinion” and not facts? What kind of president would he be? Perfect example- I once convinced my 3 year old son to give me a dollar bill in exchange for 2 shiny new dimes. Same with Mr. Cain as president, going for the percieved value instead of the real value. Surely as CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, he used more than just opinion to make his decisions. Surely he did his research before making decisions. Does politics make people stupid?

ab0ng commented on the blog post Cain #FAIL: ‘Show Me The Science’ That Being Gay Is Not a Choice
Worthless effort. Mr. Cain, like most politicians, refuses to acknowledge science unless it supports only their side. I give global warming as an example, as well as the Creation theory.

ab0ng commented on the blog post Repeal of DADT for LGB’s, but not T’s
It doesn’t help as long as the DSM says there is something wrong with us. The GREAT NEWS is that WPATH is releasing a new SOC that is a dramatic rewrite according to the Doctor that presented a preview at SCC and should have been released today at the WPATH Conference in Atlanta today. Transsexuals, transgender people and the miriad of gender non-conformity will be explained as nothing more than normal variance of gender. I urge everyone to go to the WPATH website tomorrow to read the new SOC. WPATH also realizes this new document ia an imperfect, living document and is asking for comments from the gender non-conforming community on how to improve the document.

ab0ng commented on the blog post We Don’t Have A Word For “Apple”
Joann said
“For example, much of the time, when I define “transgender” I include anyone whose gender identity (“Sex identity” for those who think of gender as performance) is different from that associated with the sex assigned at birth.
This definition leaves out gay men who identiofy as men, but who do drag, and it leaves out those crossdressers whose crossdressing is motivatated by clothing as a sex object (fetish) and do not have a gender identity at variance with their assigned sex. The definition includes everyone who might be classified as transssexual, even those who see themselves as post-transsexual.”
You probably already know that we are dealing with a continuous spectrum and not individual lines using a physics analogy.
I use as a definition for transgender anything that is non-traditional gender identity, expression, presentation and more. The traits are transgender traits, but a person can identify as transgender or not. A feminine gay man may have transgender traits, but not be transgender. And it always is up to the individual to decide if they are transgender or not. I would not make judgement on a crossdresser who does it for fetish, because it may be more than just a fetish, and the person may not realize why they do it completely.
But that then is my feminine gender expression at work, inclusion, make people feel welcome, give them a safe place.
