• Sounds like Chicago is ready to start giving away millions in lawsuits. Reading this, these guys have a pretty good case. No warrant, no signature, no crime committed. This is of course just a warm up for the conventions. I guess it could be time for a good old fashioned revolution.

  • Can’t blame the cops. Most are idiots just following orders like good nazis. Funny how the one guy admitted that international law was being broken. Wonder if they will go arrest a few military folks for indiscriminate murder. I won’t hold my breath.
However, this is really nothing. Wait until people try and protest at the conventions this year. We will all be getting a good look at fascist Amerika in the 21st century.

What kind of effort and company loyalty will you be expecting at 4 dollars for 12 hours of work? Will I be able to bring my child with me? Don’t you think the wages are what they are now because people don’t feel like going to work for less than what it takes to survive?

I don’t think he will be any better on this issue, the war issue, the civil rights issue, the debt/deficit issue, environmental issues, free trade, agricultural issues, bank fraud, or a host of other issues. He also has the worst congress this country has ever had. That’s why I am voting third party. Even if he would pull a 180 from everything he has ever done, congress is just going to get worse. When was the last time a president actually really did much different in his second term?

By ‘willing to work for’ you mean what an employer will pay. If they could get away with 50 cents an hour they would. If they could get away with no breaks or lunch, they would. If they could use child labor they would. If they could make you shop at the company store they would. We had these battles 100 years ago.
How does it solve anyones problems to have people making even less in this economy? How much extra welfare and food stamps would we need in your no minimum wage world?

  • I think people are making more out of this than it is. When you are put in jail, of course you should be searched. It is a safety issue. They did not say you can be strip searched in public, or just because cops want to find something. Wether people should be put in jail for things like protesting, or not paying a civil fine is another issue. I have problems with the guy going to jail for a non crime. That is the real story here for me.
As someone who worked in a county jail, I would not have felt as safe if inmates were not searched before they were put in. It is common sense.

  • Apples and oranges. You have to buy auto insurance if you CHOOSE to buy a car and drive on public roads. Not as a function of being born. And auto insurance is a state law. This argument has been knocked down since this whole thing began.

  • The reason this is unconstitutional is because it forces you to pay a private for profit company money for a service. The federal government is not given that power. Car insurance is a state law first, and is a condition of driving a vehicle on a public road, not just because you are alive. There are ways to not have auto insurance. Mainly, don’t own a car, ride a bike or have enough in the bank to show you can cover any accident.
SS and medicare are taxes, which are legal. 16th Amendment. Everyone pays, and everyone is entitled to participate. Private for profit insurance is not equally applied to all people. Rates will be different, different things will be covered, and on and on.
The solution is single payer, from taxes. Every study ever done shows it is more efficient and has better outcomes than what we have now. I have doubts we will get that any time soon here. Our government is to controlled by corporations to allow that to happen.

  • Think of what a huge threat we would be if America had the guts to have a general strike. Hopefully at the corrupt party conventions we show the world the level of corruption in our rulers. When they try to ban free speech, walking near a politician, holding a sign, having more than 3 people together etc. They will be exposed as the frauds they are.

  • What this article shows is Sullivan, like many Obama supporters, blindly believe the hype about Obama. It doesn’t matter that he has been the third Bush term. They think he ended the Iraq war, instead of being kicked out at the end of our ‘lease’. They think he is better on taxes even though he extended the Bush tax cuts, better on the military, even though he involved us in an undeclared war in Libya for no reason, and drone killed more civilians than Bush, better on rights even though he signed the NDAA, better on internet freedom even though he signed a treaty without consulting congress, better on money, even though he has borrowed even more than Bush and has the banksters that collapsed the economy in his cabinet, etc, etc.
It is very, very unfortunate for this country that our choices are Obama and Santorum. Hopefully in 2016 if this country isn’t totally broke or involved in WWIII we will get some real choices, but I won’t hold my breath.

  • New Orleans came first, but Chicago is where the police state of Amerika really starts kicking in. Mercenary trained cops, ready to bust heads because people will be …marching. I fear for what it is going to look like at the 2 major political conventions. New (unconstitutional) laws have been passed and now the government is going to see how far it can ram its boot up your a$$.
Pay attention to what happens here, because I guarantee that the cops will be the ones being violent. And their agent provocateurs. It is going to be illegal to have a sign and walk. It is going to be illegal to speak. It will be illegal to hand out literature. Mass arrests will take place.
It is basically a warm up for in the near future when Amerikan austerity kicks in, because the economy is not getting any better no matter who is president in 2013. These meetings are only for the world’s elite to slice the pie further in their favor and get as much from you as possible.
    End of rant.
    Peace

The republican answers were pretty much par for the course. Lift the economy and everyone can afford insurance. Nevermind the reality of the situation. What was frightening to me was the response to the palastinean republican ( Why bro?) who asked about peace for the Palastinean/Israel conflict. I couldn’t believe what I heard. Newt and [...]

Obama better worry too. I voted for him last time, but never again. Both parties are so corrupt, I almost don’t want to vote at all, but I will vote third party(Justice ore Green) because I can no longer support any pro war, pro wall street fraud, anti civil liberties, pro drug war candidates. And that rules out any democrat or republican.

Does anyone here think the mainstream media will ask any questions that will expose the corruption in the system? The media in this country is owned by pro war corporations that only exist because the system is rigged in their favor. GE which owns NBC would never allow a ‘journalist’ to ask difficult questions. They will, however, give the candidates, with the exception of RP, the ability to use fear, to call for even more military. Three of the four candidates would love a war with Iran, Cuba, Nicuragua, Pakistan, Afganistan, and hey, why not round 3 in Iraq? Unfortunately, this is our choice in 2012. 4 candidates, R and D alike, just salivating to start even more war, regardless of the cost in blood and treasure.

  • People are screaming ‘Socialism! Socialism!’ They should be screaming ‘Fascism! Fascism!’ This is another example of the crimes of the Bush admin getting a total pass from Obama. They should all be in jail for violating their oaths of office. But I won’t hold my breath. If you don’t think every phone call ever made ends up on a computer somewhere you aren’t paying attention. Read Puzzle Palace by James Bramford. The NSA has been doing this since the beginning.
