adam in oregon commented on the blog post Late Night: I Called the GOP’s Second Shutdown Jones Two Weeks Ago
I called it as soon as the last shut down was over. With all the vacation and other things going on in congress I knew they wouldn’t do a thing to address the debt ceiling. It actually works in favor of the powers that be because if we can’t even open the government, people will be more likely to support cuts to SS/medicare that both parties really want. The next shutdown is coming. We have the worst congress in history, and the president ain’t much better.

When your business is responsible for billions of dollars in crime it should cease to exist. Break it up and sell it off.
adam in oregon commented on the blog post Trey Radel Will Take Leave Of Absence After Cocaine Plea
I think its time for some random drug tests on members of congress. Us normal citizens get to take them and we aren’t in charge of policy. I wonder how many of us would lose our jobs if we were convicted of having coke. Probably a lot of us. This guy should quit and let someone who understands the responsibilities run for the job.
adam in oregon commented on the diary post The Obamacare Disaster and the Poison of Party Loyalty by Norman Solomon.
Party of principle is what has gotten us to this place. The Heritage Foundation came up with this plan in the 90s and now Democrats support it to the ends of the earth because Obama signed it in to law. We are through the looking glass.
Well, the old saying goes, “You can’t polish a turd.” No matter how shiny it gets, its still a turd.
This plan is going to bust the budget. Is it cheaper to pay for someone to go to the ER without insurance, or pay them a subsidy every month forever? Why should someone with good insurance have to pay a tax on it? Why are so many companies getting a pass on the law?
We need a reboot. Medicare for all would cost most people way less and still keep for profit insurance in the game because medicare only pays 80%.
We could have a public option. We should have single payer but I won’t hold my breath.
There are some good things we could keep such as no denials for pre-existing conditions. No upper/lifetime limits.
How about allowing people to shop for drugs from Canada where they are cheaper? How about allowing generic drugs to come to market faster? There are so many ways to make this cheaper but when insurance companies write the laws, they will write them to their benefit.
Is this story for real? How much rape is going on in fed bathrooms? How much terrorism is plotted by females on the toilet? I am having a hard time with this one. I know there is no limit to the powers our government will claim, but c’mon. This is crazy. Couldn’t the people in [...]

adam in oregon commented on the blog post Come Saturday Morning: Why Modern “Country Music” Exists
I had to watch part of the CMAs the other day because it was on instead of what I usually watch. A band came out and started playing typical twangy garbage. The guitarist had tats and a mohawk. As someone that loves classic punk music I wanted to reach in the screen and pull him out and slam dance on his face. Don’t co opt punk for your crappy unoriginal band. You are a total poser. Thats what country music has to do to survive I guess. Try and pretend its something way better than it could ever be.

When you are against war, you are against the US. That’s the world we live in now. If you really think it was an accident I have some beach front property for sale.
adam in oregon commented on the blog post Obamacare is the Status Quo; Progressives Shouldn’t be Defending That
I remember progressives calling for Medicare for all, a public option, and single payer. No true progressive was calling for mandatory health insurance. When Obama ran for president, he said mandatory insurance was like trying to solve homelessness by forcing people to buy a house.
Now we have to deal with people saying, just give it time, this will get us to single payer, its the best we could get. I call BS. This plan was written by the heritage foundation and now democrats are supporting it. If you are just above the income cut off, you are in the same boat as before. If you are under the cut off, you are getting money from the government to hand to a private corporation.
If we had a national plan we could get rid of medicare, disability, workers comp, all the different state plans, and countless insurance companies that exist to make money, not help sick people. We would save millions of man hours in people not dealing with different plans and co pays.
Everyone that has studied the problem knows that single payer is cheaper and has better outcomes. Unfortunately we have a government run by corporations so it won’t happen short of revolution.
That’s his code for jews.

adam in oregon commented on the blog post 9/11 Suspects’ Lawyers to Obama: Declassify Rendition, Detention & Interrogation Program Details
You would think that since we “don’t” torture any more, there wouldn’t be a problem exposing what this government did. Transparency and all that jazz. We are supposed to give people “fair” trials in this country, so what would be the problem? Oh yeah, it would show that the policy never changed and Obama is an accessory. Nevermind.
adam in oregon commented on the blog post Democrats Opening The Door On Cuts To Social Security
Of course they are. They don’t work for us. It would be super easy to solve. Raise the cap. Increase capital gains by one percent. A financial transaction tax of .001 percent. Quit giving other countries money. Quit trying to conquer the world. Decrease the size of our military. No more corporate welfare to multibillion dollar companies.
But no, we have to cut benefits so the common man suffers more. Both sides play the game. If you want real change quit voting for D or R.
