It would be good to diversity out of the U.S. The problem is the entire world economic system is screwy at the moment. You might think of foreign stock or worldwide mutual funds, foreign currency, gold or silver. World-wide stock funds are a pretty conservative investment but the others are not for the faint of heart.

The problem, of course, is that the workers whose wages have declined cannot afford to buy the products of the corporations–hence massive borrowing and manufacturing capital out of the air (= quantitative among other things). This is, of course, inherently unsustainable and the house of cards is now collapsing.
