americandad commented on the blog post Obama Loses the Change Mantle
DKos has always maintained its goal was to elect Democrats. But during the Bush years, it was more than that; it was a liberal activist site. MCJoan led the fight on FISA in 2008. It was a great community back then. The Rec diaries had great stuff. Now it just follows the horse race. You have a 100% chance your RSS feed will have either Romney or Obama in the diary title. Yawn.

Voting Democrat over Republican is like quitting smoking when you have lung cancer from 20 years of smoking.
It won’t make a difference.

americandad commented on the blog post There Is No Super Secret Obama Waiting for 2013
That’s why I don’t understand why liberal groups aren’t making demands now, during the election year. Instead, the attitude seems to be, “Don’t rock the boat or we’ll be blamed for electing a Republican”. Organizations should threaten to run ads against Obama’s record on a myriad of issues: labor, environment, women’s rights, civil liberties, war, Wall Street, etc. unless Obama started making significant legislation concessions STARTING NOW and demand a more liberal platform for his 2nd term. Instead, we see a major a labor union prematurely endorse Obama while he screws labor over with impunity. Why would he bother listening to ANYONE on the left if he’s never confronted?

If Hillary goes on the ticket, then I envy anyone who bought any Biden shwag, especially the “Cup of Joe” coffee mug. That stuff is going to fetch small fortunes on eBay.

If anyone needs a good laugh, check out how the righteous, true progressives at the People’s Spew championed the appointment of Daley to CoS as smart, good politics, and how Obama was making actual progress while so-called progressives at FDL and DKos were throwing temper tantrums.

“These are not aimless hippies frittering away their autumn dancing to the drum circle. These people are focused, organized, efficient and doing long range planning. They have their act together. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to see what they do next.” Somebody should tell this to Jon Stewart who never hesitates [...]

americandad commented on the blog post Environmental Groups Sue EPA Over Ozone Rules
It’s a typical Obama Defender argument you’d see at Daily Kos or Balloon Juice. Either, “I can remember when air was MUCH worse than it is now. Don’t be such a baby!” and “Have you been to Mexico? Or India? Stop complaining about air quality!”
Of course, it’s these same people who can’t be bothered to understand the concept of “slippery slope”. In other words, how much farther are we going to regress environmentally for the sake of “saving jobs” by letting corporations pollute with impunity?

americandad commented on the blog post All Major Initiatives for 2011 Come Crashing Down
Okay, I get it that the Rs are not acting in good faith at all. However, at what point do we stop blaming Republicans for being the self-admitted soul-sucking demons they are and start wondering why the Congressional Dems and the White House have no countermeasures to the Republicans’ obstructionist shenanigans whatsoever?
Are we really supposed to believe that if any political titan in American history were to go toe-to-toe with today`s Tea Party that they would be laid out as flat as the current crop of Dems?
Really?
Or is it more likely that Obama et al. are political failures?
It must be horribly humbling for the Obama admin as they watch their strategies utterly backfire, one after another. I’m not sure what predicted outcomes they had in mind, but all I see is failure after failure after failure.
Looking weak is right. Obama and Democrats can’t keep running to the public to whine (as Obama did today) that the other kids aren’t playing fair; either go home (resign!) or go back and fight– and fight dirty.
If you want people to have hope, to have faith, then you first have to have their confidence in you. Right now, people have as much confidence in Obama to run this country as the Iraqi people had in Paul Bremmer.

americandad commented on the blog post Obama Jobs Bill Faces Hurdles with Public, Fellow Democrats
Americans doubt the package of tax cuts and spending proposals intended to jumpstart job creation that Obama submitted to Congress this week will bring down the 9.1 percent jobless rate. That sentiment undermines one of the core arguments the president is making on the job act’s behalf in a nationwide campaign to build public support.
