Yep. Gaza is the modern equivalent of the Warsaw Ghetto. But frankly who gives a shit? Certainly not anyone in the US of A or Israel. All one has to do is point out how evil the Germans were/are/will be and all is fine and/or forgiven. It’s not as if we killed 6 wait, 5 [...]

Hi Wendy! Alas I seem to have become even more jaded than I believed possible. Which is really a bitch for a non-practicing Buddhist- Haha (what is the sound of one gum flapping?) It feels like the more crazy/shitty things become, the less people want to hear about it, and by extension, the less they are [...]

Once again we are being lied to.  Once again we are faced with the disastrous environmental consequences of our insatiable desire for profit…..and the mass media is….wait for it…..silent.  Are you aware of what has been going on in Southern Louisiana?  Have you seen any information on the news about the sinkhole?  About the pending [...]

I read this and felt the urgent need to pass it along.  Considering the source, it speaks volumes.  I hope we all take a minute to reflect on just how truly fucked up things have become.  This is not the America I was born in.  This is not the America I want to live in.  Edited [...]

While I have enjoyed and even agreed with most of what you have posted so far Robert, with this post I must protest. The advent of monotheism, in my opinion, has been nothing but a problem for the human race. Within monotheism we find the genesis of totalitarianism (the King is God syndrome) and the [...]

Germany was unified in 1871. The Great War started by Austria in 1914. Germany re-unified in 1990. Just what is it you are on about?

Germany has been occupied since 1945. Their policies are our policies. It’s the US/UK and the Rothschild’s and Rockefeller’s that are running the show. Same as it was after WW1…

Believing the truth requires an open mind, something I fear is in short supply in the West.

I have been studying the Weimar Republic for the last several years and I find the similarities between 1930 Germany and our current crises unnerving. The reason that the German people elected Hitler is because he railed against these very things. He spoke out against international capital, the central banks, and the manipulation of the [...]

“The Myth of the Noble Scientist.” Some have pictured the scientist as a completely objective individual who is free of bias and preconceptions, and who is willing to quickly abandon even the most well accepted theory if it were shown to be scientifically inadequate. This belief is not close to the truth. The reality is [...]

Like I said I don’t have a problem with “science”. Perhaps you should re-read what it was that I said. I have a problem with how science is practiced, and how religion is practiced. They both suffer from the same problems.

Tsar, why is it that you feel threatened by my perspective? What experience do you have with science or religion? are you here to be snarky or to add to the discussion? I am not a philosopher, so using an ad hominem doesn’t really cause me to loose any sleep.

Began as a botanist, then an archeologist…and eventually a cultural anthropologist specializing in political ecology. And Thanks Robert, I find these discussions very frustrating- dogma is a relentless little beasty. I have been studying Goethe recently, and have found his ideas a beautiful counterpoint to both science and religion. They are not as mutually exclusive [...]

I’ll put together a list for you, snarky Mcsnarkster. Not that you would give an ounce of credence to anything that I offer. Why the attitude? Does it make you feel manly?

We are arguing about how religion is “practiced” vs, an idealized version of science. This is apples vs. oranges.

I used the word “scam” to refer to how science is manipulated to ensure corporate funding, nothing more.
Perhaps you read too much into that word?

I don’t have a problem with “science”, I have a problem with people characterizing science as a panacea to the problems inherent within religion. I have watched professors manipulate data to ensure corporate funding. I have seen observations ignored because they do not fit in with accepted scientific dogma. I am unhappy with people pushing [...]

Since science is a cultural construct that is performed by human beings, I beg to differ.

You cannot separate the human from the science.

Ya know….I have lived and breathed “science” since I went to university in 1987. The only thing I have to add to this discussion is my experience: Science is just as dogmatic as religion. I see very little difference between the two. There have been innumerable instances that I have witnessed where a researcher has [...]
