Amy L. Beam commented on the blog post Military Officer Suggests Press at Bradley Manning Proceedings ‘Police’ Each Other to Prevent Leaks
Thank you, Kevin. If there is a journalist of the year award, you deserve it. I called the Pentagon Public Affairs office yesterday, was hung up on twice; I sent an email and got a phone call and apology from Lt. Col. Jim Gregory who had hung up on me when I asked for the rules and procedures for Manning’s trial (which he never did tell me). He said his phone rang every 15 seconds and he had 1200 emails in a day, to which I say, “good.” But he needs to hear more. His phone should NEVER stop ringing.

public affairs for the public: 703-571-3343Lt. Col Gregory wanted to know what press organization I represent. Yes, well, I represent independent media, which is the ONLY way the public learns what is happening with the Bradley Manning PERSECUTION. This did not seem to be good enough to allow me to cover the trial. Gregory certainly seems to think Manning is the “war criminal” or else he worded his sentence wrong.
People defending our Constitution and wanting to prosecute war criminals are not the enemy. Manning is the hero. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Obama are the enemy of the people and the war criminals.

Amy L. Beam commented on the blog post How the Government’s Prosecution of Aaron Swartz Pushed Him Toward Death
Deep condolences to Aaron Schwartz’ family, friends, and for all freedom-loving people. The shame of US prosecutors of whistle blowers has no limits. Thank you, Kevin. It is a black day for me and many others.

Amy L. Beam commented on the blog post Bradley Manning’s ‘Unlawful Pretrial Punishment’ Hearing, Day 10
Thank you Kevin. 1st Lt Brian Scott Villiard, press officer for Quantico, told me in Jan-Feb 2011 that there is a separate wing in Quantico Brig for “solitary confinement”. The difference being that the cells are designed with NO bars in the front; only a slot to talk through and pass food. So either Villiard was not accurate or CWO2 Barnes is playing word games. Could it be she has never visited the solitary wing in Quantico? Pass it along.

The NY Times invented this.

Amy L. Beam commented on the blog post New York Times Finally Shows Up to Cover Bradley Manning Proceedings (And Their Story Is Sloppy)
They made it up. The NY Times, a “used to be” respectable newspaper. I stopped reading it several DECADES ago. Thanks, Kevin for superlative coverage and for exposing the shoddy story the NYTimes did.

You are assuming they were acting independently and not following orders from some top General in the Pentagon.

Amy L. Beam commented on the blog post Reviews of Bradley Manning’s Confinement Status May Have Suffered from ‘Unnecessary Command Influence’
Kevin, thank you for your reporting. Opposing forces are doing everything to prevent this story from being covered. As of yesterday, I discovered both David E. Coombs’ (Manning’s attorney) and Michael Ratner’s (Assange’s US attorney) web sites are hacked. Please let them know. At Coombs’ webpage when one tries to subscribe to email posts, the page is redirected to a software marketing company. michaelratner.com page displays as a blank white page. Google cache for his page is wiped out so not possible to read his posts or to find his phone or email. My open.salon.com posts on Manning are also under attack. We need 1000s of people to repeat the news on different sites and inform their friends. I have an idea who is behind this.
