…god, I loathe NPR “news” and chat shows…milquetoast for the masses who think they’re liberal. About the only show I can listen to is Fresh Air any more, and that only for entertainment. Her interview with Karl Rove was embarrassing.

Thank FSM for Amy Goodman, Sam Seder, Citizen Radio and a few others.

Democrat, Republican, who effing cares. I would rather see the multinationals who run the whole country (and much of the world, and yeah, I’m looking at YOU, G8, hiding up in Camp David) given the Versailles treatment. If that doesn’t happen, then we’re screwed, plain and simple. If it DOES happen, then both Democrats and Republicans are screwed, and maybe they’ll go away and let us have our country back.

To avoid the Obama v. Romney question, yes, I am better off than I was four years ago. But the world is worse off. There’s been no progress made towards the problem of climate change, a President can assassinate an American citizen, and the possibility of a war with Iran is more than plausible. Oh, and our “entitlements” are still “on the table”.

But hey, I’m working and have a few bucks in the bank!

Ahh, it’ll just be a filthy new design. A filthy, filthy, filthy, murdering, raping new design that won’t beHAVE itself.

What? No Springsteen? Why, even the Virgin Ben’s all over that…

Although he gots no Shakirass, it must be admitted. (Though the mere thought of an animated gif of KLo’s sweet sweet booty makes me, um, nauseous and ROFL simultaneously.)

C’mon, TBogg. The poor boy thinks you’re ignoring him lately. Have a go. :)

That was pretty much my response to Doctor Who, as well…but then the second series was *amazing* and the show hit a four-year stride it pretty much maintained until David Tennant and showrunner Russell T Davies left. I’m still watching new showrunner Steven Moffat’s Who, now in its second series, but it seems colder and more in the mold of “classic (pre-Davies)” Who, which doesn’t do much for me, but it seems them what loved that period are much more fond of the new Moffat Who than me.

Just Netflix ‘em, watch the second series in order, and if you’re not hooked by then you never will be. (Oh, and try to watch the last two episodes of series one before you do…it’s a good setup.)

Okay, so I saw this late and ain’t gonna read all 118 responses, so this has probably said earlier and better, but:

I would *love* to see this on a national level. Let’s face it, both “parties”-as-representatives are corrupt beyond redemption. I’d love to see 3% Democrats, 10 percent Republicans…let’s face it, they’ll buy 9.5% of
them…and 87% Independents. Nothing would quite say “you’re fired” like a vote of no-confidence from an entire nation.

Actually, were it to happen, there would totally be no news about it, or there would be a competing poll from whatever-those-effing-right-wing pollsters that Hannity always uses that would show Independents in a pronounced minority, with Republicans in the 50s, Dems in the 40s, and 10% Independent or undeclared. *sigh*…

  • Beautiful piece. (Or, as The Replacements’ song by Paul Westerberg would put it, “Sadly Beautiful”.)

One small niggle (and I feel nerdish in the extreme in even pointing it out)–”What’s So Funny” was written in 1974, but for Nick’s band at the time, Brinsley Schwarz, for the LP “The New Favourites Of Brinsley Schwarz”. Elvis Costello was still plain old Declan MacManus in 1973…it wasn’t until 1979 that “Armed Forces” came out (and “What’s So Funny” wasn’t even on the original UK release) with the Elvis version. Actually, the debut of the Costello version was as the B-side of Nick’s 45 “American Squirm”, credited to “Nick Lowe And His Sound”.

Like I said, *big* nerd, especially for Nick, Elvis, Rockpile and all of their assorted offshoots.

But again, great post…I always look forward to reading your work.

Tehanu, agreed. One of the best TBogg pun-post titles evah! BANG! (chicka…chicka..chicka…)

And I wanna see “Palin The Barbarian” as actual comic. Ideally, the guy who wrote “Howard The Duck” (name escapes me–oh, Steve Gerber, I think? who now that I mention it is, I think, dead) would script. And R. Crumb’d draw it.
