antoine22 commented on the diary post Disposable America by cmaukonen.
Random thoughts: Several times I couldn’t find decent quality products (small oil can to lube my Stairmaster, manual orange juicer for example), but found them at antique stores. My wife and I have a 1993 Panasonic TV and VHS video player. Several years ago, friends gave us a tiny DVD player, which we still use [...]

Thanks for posting this. A bright spot in my day : )
We need more art, music, literature, and poetry in our lives. At least I do.
Thanks again.
Namaste,

As much as I dislike Dubya, I have to admit that I did a lot better during his presidency.

antoine22 commented on the diary post Is the third party candidate for President, Rocky Anderson, a spoiler or a much needed moral alternative to a corrupt and broken political system? by Barefoot Accountant.
You could categorize Anderson as a spoiler if his views were similar to Obama’s – see definition below. http://www.reference.com/browse/Spoiler_effect The ” spoiler effect ” is a term to describe the effect a minor party candidate with little chance of winning can have on a close election, in which their candidacy results in the election being [...]

antoine22 commented on the blog post FDL Book Salon Welcomes Van Jones, Rebuild The Dream
Do you have any idea, or opinion, as to why the U.S. does not avail itself of the WTO protections you mentioned?

Does Rebuild the Dream address the economic decline caused by trade agreements and our membership in the WTO?

antoine22 commented on the blog post FDL Book Salon Welcomes Van Jones, Rebuild The Dream
I clicked on the Rebuild The Dream link, and browsed the Contract for America. The Contract does not mention trade agreements, which in my opinion are one of the largest causes of our economic decline, and current unemployment crisis.
Namaste,

I’ll also vote for Jill Stein. And, I’ll write in the name of our local Green Party chair for all other national, state, and county offices.
FDL readers might consider doing likewise. I live in California where voters can write in candidates. Register Green (or third party(, vote Green (or third party), sleep with a clear conscience.
Namaste,

If I lived in Massachusetts, I’d write Jill Stein in as candidate for U.S. Senate, or write in the name of a local Green Party official. I live in California, registered Green, will vote for Stein in the primary, and will write in the name of a local Green Party official for all offices that [...]

antoine22 commented on the diary post Why vote for Obama? Let me count the whys – 3 by David Seaton.
Mr. Seaton wrote, . . . I think Obama really does want to cut back military spending in order to leave a legacy of rebuilding American infrastructure. Sure. When pigs fly. And, no, I have never read anything by Lenin or Mao. But, I have read Naomi Klein, Joseph Stiglitz, Lewis Lapham, Noreena Hertz; and [...]

Mr. Seaton said, . . . if this forum is any measure, . . . we and the world are set to enjoy four to eight years of Mitt Romney. No, not at all. If this forum is any measure, it looks like my fellow FDL friends will not compromise their integrity, will vote 3rd [...]

Wendy,
Thanks for your excellent reply to hermit @ 71 — way better than anything I would have written.
And, now I’ll Google Alinski’s Rules for Radicals.

Mr. Seaton said: If you have a billion dollars start a third party. If you belong to the 99% organize like MLK did . . . To vote for Obama is a tactical vote not the answer to your hopes and dreams. You do not need a billion dollars to start a third party — [...]

At the present I produce press dossiers for corporate clients in Spain’s financial sector.
Perhaps Spain’s counterparts to Bank of America.

Mr. Seaton, and his fellow Obama apologists, are doing their best to ensure that third parties don’t gain any traction, and thus keep us oppressed under our plutocratic regime. Seaton is, in my opinion, someone who doesn’t care about the 99 percent, or the fate of the world. Otherwise, why does he continue to post [...]

My wife and I moved to California in December — we registered Green party, and will vote for Jill Stein in the June 5th presidential primary.
