Just a quick note to add that Minnesota is a complex place. While there are awful things like the state DOMA and Michelle Bachmann, Minnesota was also the first state to pass a trans-inclusive ENDA banning discrimination in work and housing back in 1993, and signed into law by a Republican governor no less.
