I’ve seen Argo, Jdango, ZD30, and Lincoln.
Lincoln was flat-out terrible on every level, ZD30 was “meh”, and Argo and Django were both great, Dgando being the slightly better of the two, if I had to choose.

Yes, it applies to future research, too. Our core threat (which absolutely applies to biotech, as well as other aspects of western civilization) was articulated here: “ The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. Regarding biotech, I don’t think there’s any way to stop it. If you ban it, the powerful will just take it underground. Our objective should be to at least keep the information open to all equally.

Nowadays, Rand tells whatever story the sponsors want/need to hear. The story is usually told in a technically truthful but highly cherry-picked way.
They’re scientists and historians for hire to promote whatever agenda bids the highest.

They’re just sitting there, boarded up. I’m pretty sure it’s the banks just taking them off the market.

Michael Hudson has been saying the whole point of all the QE has been to reinflate the housing bubble for years now.
Guess he was right. -
athena1 wrote a new diary post: Something is happening with the housing market
And I don’t approve, personally. I’ve been watching the housing market since the pre-2008 pop. Poor people around here started being able to get perfectly good homes for $6-12K around 2005 in my neighborhood. (the same houses that were selling for $60K just a year before.) I guess it makes sense that bubbles pop in [...]

I used to say Palin was unqualified, but in retrospect, I just hated her. Seems like most presidential quality comes from being able to just identify competent experts to advise them.
The new Oliver Stone documentary about the hidden history of the US has REALLY reinforced that in my mind. -

I’m a little freaked out, too. http://www.democracynow.org/2012/12/14/dean_baker_the_biggest_myth_in On New Years Eve or on Christmas Eve or late Christmas night, we’re about to get screwed. That’ll probably be when votes are cast and bills are signed. Remember the NDAA? Remember how Olbermann was the one guy in the MSM freaked out about the NDAA? I mean, it might be too late. Part of me (the super-cynical part) thinks we only really, really got the internet when we did because the “winners” were that confident that we proles were defeated, forever and always and more forevermore. But maybe, just maybe, Obama didn’t ruin the notion of hope? Maybe there’s a hope that [...]
