The Intercept has clearly been through the decision-making process on many occasions since their inception. They have clearly published much that the govt. absolutely didn’t want them to publish. I don’t believe that they make their choices lightly and I respect those choices they’ve made. I’ve never seen any indication that they are government stooges. [...]

“Obama has caved so many times there are miners trapped inside him”.

One of the more insightful comments I’ve heard recently. Someone should make a political ad out of that one.

  • As the old saying goes “with friends like that, who needs enemies?” I mean really, how many people will that convince to vote for Walker. OTOH, I’m praying he loses so, keep it up Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel!

Thank-you for writing about this debacle. You’re the first that I’ve heard or seen to address this horrer. It astonishes me that anyone with any notion of justice can address this and not be throughly disgusted. Watching Schneiderman on Maddow last night, I was appalled that he was so upbeat about the whole thing. Clearly these people have no clue what it means to lose the largest investment most folks make in their lifetime not to mention the roof over their heads – their homes.

Hmm, the “Actually take these petitions seriously instead of just using them as an excuse to pretend you are listening.” site is nowhere to be found at this point in time. Any guesses as to where it might have gone?

Oh thank-you for stating so elegantly and succinctly what I have been thinking of O’Donnell since he first started substitute hosting on MSNBC. ‘I was a Senate staffer so I know everything there is to know about how the Senate works. Ask me anything!!!’ He’s an arrogant asshole.

Thank-you. Voting to support that dirtbag demonstrates a monumental lack of judgement (or lack of principles) on the part of all those 94 Senators, which is why I’m curious about who didn’t vote and why. Mark Udall is one of my Senators and, unfortunately, the Udall who actually voted. Another reason not to vote for him again.

Who were the 6 Senators who didn’t vote and what reason(s)were given for not voting?

“Since it’s allegedly a “contest” I understand they have to have a way to enter without making a donation. We should all enter the “free” way and maybe someone can get lucky and ask him a real question.” They claim that the winners will be basically picked out of the hat, but I’m guessing that’s [...]

I wondered that too. My buy-in price was $25. How the hell do they determine how much to “ask” for? What criteria are they using and how are they collecting that information? BTW I received the invitation via text message too.

  • Any oil produced by the US just goes onto the world oil market anyway so to say that more local oil production will decrease our dependence on ME oil is just a lie. So Obama’s stupid, crooked and a liar.

NBC News quotes senior Administration officials saying that the next month will determine the extent of the withdrawal, and others saying it would be foolhardy to draw down in the middle of “fighting season” in Afghanistan (is there any other kind).
So, did they intentionally designate July as the drawdown month, knowing full well that it’s the “middle of the fighting season” giving them the excuse to ignore their own plans?

If only this budget proposal and it’s ultimate outcomes could be made known far and wide, perhaps there would be a real discussion about alternative solutions. But, alas, that’s not likely to happen.

I wonder if Walker is starting to realize that he may have screwed the pooch by attacking the unions like this. He may ultimately be responsible for destroying the now sizable insane right wing of the Republican Party – at least I hope so for everyone’s sake.
