How long will this last? I have no idea. Revolution often starts with some insignificant spark from some random place.
At some point, a critical mass will accumulate and people will mobilize. Peacefully we hope, but looking at history, I don’t think so. -

I still think that the political landscape 5-6 months from now is going to look a lot different than it does now, and not to Obama’s advantage.
Even if I were in a blue state, it would be very difficult for me to vote for Obama. I’m finding it easier as time goes on to say it really does not matter whether Obama or Romney is in the WH in January.
Maybe something can happen if there is an overwhelming ( minimum hundreds of thousands ) demonstration/protests at the Dem. convention this fall. I’d find a way to get there.
Political life in the US is a shambles, a farce and I do not see it getting better anytime soon.

Are Pelosi’s constituents telling her anything? All I got is wingers to talk to.

FDL could raise some $ with an “office pool”. Best do it quick though.

For most of Obama’s first term, especially during and after the process to get the health care legislation through Congress, it seemed he was doing everything he could not to get a second term. There are a good number of big EV swing states like Ohio where he and Romney are neck and neck.
For many good reasons, not just Romney being not well-liked by his base and just the fact the Romney is a poor candidate/campaigner, this should not be.
My metaphor of the day, it would be like England gets the US to help them against the German Nazis but we collaborate with the Germans.
Got a fund-raising call from the DCCC. Sorry, nice lady, no money for you until your crew supports candidates who support me.

very well said, and should be disseminated widely. In my Kansas, we have a governor who wants to eliminate all corporate taxes, but fortunately we have a few mug-wumps who are opposed.
I could live with such a political party. The Mug-Wumps.
The country is bereft of leadership who will take the problems of the states and nation to the people and lay it out honestly and inspire us to work to set us to right.
Without that, the other method of resetting society is crash and burn.
I much prefer the first.

Another fan here, and of Billmon, and of Gilliard.
I hope she’s safe in Syria or out of harm’s way. It would be great to see her writing online again. She and Shadid were at the top for news from Iraq. And Colby Buzzell.

but but but but the GSA, parties, Vegas, million-dollar extravaganzas!!!!
Miserable media minions, get all hepped up on pennies, but can’t seem to get excited about billions in corporate welfare waste.
Useless drones droning on and on and on.

It’s Obama’s fault.
He stole it, you know he did.
Or he had some jihadist from his secret sleeper cell in the White House basement do it.

A friend on a message board, who is from Wisconsin, reports that her hometown newspaper and others across the state have full-page ads for
http://www.iverifytherecall.com/
sponsored by Tea Party groups ( guess who! ) for people to check their signatures and also to see who’s signed.
But it’s also been used to see who signed the recall and people can go after teachers, candidates for the school board (and other supposedly non-partisan positions), judges, law enforcement, and even neighbor against neighbor, employer against employees. Vandalism to homes of people who signed the petitions and threats made…McCarthyism witch-hunting. The intimidation factor is high.. at least in her area.

Also, the status-quo dems eagerness to bludgeon people with the GOP goat-rodeo to try to get us to shut up about what Obama has done and not done, really pisses me off.
It does me too. Like I’m something to bought and sold at the local meat market.
Even more than that, I’m sure Obama has killed off a considerable %age of potential activism for good candidates for political office.
Who’s gonna believe the next good candidate who has a desire for public service after Obama’s Bait and Switch?

I got this email from Jim Messina
If the general election were held today, President Obama would lose to Mitt Romney — according to the latest poll from Washington Post-ABC News.
Now, many other polls put the President on top, but all point to the same reality: We’re looking at a race that will be tighter than you think. And the other side has groups ready to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to tear down President Obama.
We cannot underestimate someone like Romney who has shown he will spend and say anything to win.
We need to turn up the pressure now.
If the idea of a President Romney scares you, it’s time to own a piece of this campaign.

Of course, we have plenty of good news to celebrate, and we must not overreact to any one poll. But this one is a reminder that we have to remain vigilant — always focused on November 6th and the work we have to do to win.
This inspires me no end.
