Hi, Kris. I’m that someone. Although I have much kindness toward most dwellers here (about 99%), if you thought I meant a big group hug, the snark went way-y-y over your head.

LOL indeed. Being of an undefined spirituality, I use religious terms for convenience without adhering to them literally as a true believer. Contemplating the “consumption of the body of the host” gave me the giggles, especially after the tension around the past couple of days. Thanks!

From one Mom to another, commiseration and hugs. After about three years of mostly palliative care, we lost our 18-year-old cat FK to kidney disease at the end of January. We were joyful that he was happy (catnip on a regular basis probably helped out with that) and relatively spry up until his last day [...]

Apologies may be due from many, those you suggested and others who castigated md and told him to STFU. Maybe you can start The Apology Diary and invite there anyone who said any hurtful thing for confession and absolution, perhaps for throughout the entire history of FDL so we can all forgive each other and [...]

Thanks to FDL for the mea culpa.
Thanks to Marsdragon for the diary, tenacity, and civility.
Thanks to Metamars for the O/T but nevertheless welcome musings on climate change in order to defend his/her “bloggerly honor.” :)

One woman’s 2 cents’ worth: The loss of interest is not in having sex; it’s in having babies. We’re as lusty as we ever were, and we have the means to enjoy our sexuality without, coming from the perspective of someone who never wanted to be a mother, suffering the consequences. We’re also more accepting [...]

Thanks. I love the tagging art. I like it on trains especially because of the mystery of who did it, where, and when and that it’s on tour in a way. I’ve seen and read about collections of photography of derelict structures, particularly here in Atlanta – one of the reasons they film Walking Dead [...]

In Atlanta, “the public-private partnership” creates “street art.” The city provides the public spaces and corporations commission the artists to provide the “art.” The most memorable result was several years ago when multi-color pastel cows worked in an unremembered (at least by me) medium appeared in random places scattered around the city. Good for the [...]

Recommend your comment. Regarding the comments pertaining to Georgia and “the flag controversy.” The flag controversy was a fabricated distraction – the focus should have been that 2002 was the year Georgia enabled e-voting only. Rather than allowing the flip from Democratic to Republican to be analyzed legitimately, they fabricated the flag controversy early on [...]

mafr comment – recommended: “too bad that scientists, doing honest work, have to waste their time, responding to these endless, petroleum company sponsored non peer reviewed, non fact based, error filled, disinformation stories.” Regarding human impact on our planet, go old school, as in grade school: Make a terrarium and once it’s all green and [...]

Wherever in the cosmos Douglas Adams is now, I’m sure he has a, perhaps not his, but a towel and is honored and flattered by being, rightfully, quoted along with Voltaire and Upton Sinclair. cmaukonen, you remain one of the reasons I frequent this place; thanks.

billthechowchow commented on the blog post Manning Defense Files Motion Requesting Article 32 Officer Recuse Himself
Thanks for the concise clarity:
Disclosing illegal acts performed by our government should not be illegal even if it is classified information. In the real world if you know of a crime and you don’t report it you are guilty of a crime for not reporting it. Why doesn’t the same apply for our military and government? They are called whistleblowers and they are supposed to be protected. If we don’t protect them then none will come forward for future crimes… which is really what this trial is all about. Scare the shit out of anyone thinking of reporting anything illegal they see happen by our military or government.

As a matter of my own survival, I’ve had to research these subjects. You may already know these things. Sociopathy and psychopathy are categorized as antisocial personality disorders. Usually, for these people, they’re born this way (i.e., nature over nuture). For both, the primary indicators are lack of conscience and lack of empathy. The primary [...]

billthechowchow commented on the diary post The “Inspired by OWS But Can Actually Get Sh!t Done” Committee by fairleft.
Our currently corporate-funded government provides the voting machines that pre-determine our elected officials. It also makes all the rules. Most people don’t want to “break the law.” So any “committee that can get shit done” is either our status quo corporate-beholden government (that votes won’t perceptibly alter) continuing head-long off the cliff or an alternative [...]
