No. It doesn’t work that way. Whoever is designated by the MOTU will occupy that Senate seat. Our black box voting doesn’t matter, is irrelevant, is a circle jerk.

Thank you. I cringe every time someone calls Georgia “a Red State,” for which no uncompromised statistical validity exists.

billthechowchow commented on the blog post Bullies and a pile-up of victims — can we finally address our culture of aggression and violence?
I read the NYT article and your May 2012 post about it just now. My sentiments are directly aligned with Gina9223 in her comment on your May 2012 diary. I survived my own Frankensister. I fared better physically because we were closer in age and size, but what damage she couldn’t do to me physically, she spent our entire youth together inflicting as much psychological and emotional damage as she could. And she didn’t “grow out of it.” I left home at 17, and the few times I’ve allowed contact with her in the past 30 years, she’s been as twisted and sadistic as she was at 5 or 13 or 25. Yes, some human monsters are just born that way. You can’t fix them. They’re probably indefatigably fascinating to psychiatrists/psychologists, but to the rest of us, they are simply life-threateningly dangerous, whether they resort to direct physical violence or terrorize us in whatever manner satisfies their cunning, manipulative egos. In that NYT article, although at least the mother acknowledged that Michael might actually kill one of his siblings, nobody seemed that concerned with the other children’s safety and welfare. Ask either one of Michael’s siblings what life is like to be so terrified of his older brother. Rather than “saving Michael” and the other monsters out there like him, which actually just allows them to hone their skills and enjoy being the center of attention, stop sacrificing entire families for them. I don’t care what diagnosis you give them, get them away and keep them away from other people.

Jesus fucking christ. Suicide, I understand. But it’s just goddamned meanness to be compelled to take anyone with you – even more evil, if that’s possible, if it’s your own child.

Yes, volunteers with a local humane society may be able to help to identify local feral cat caretakers and provide traps. I hooked up w/my feral rescuer friend while cleaning cat cages at PetSmart for its local adoption group. Ask the hands-on people, not the administrators. And definitely talk to the staff at low-cost veterinary [...]

Look for feral sn/t/r (spayneuter/trap/release) groups in your area. You may find a group online, but more often you’ll find one human soul dedicated to caring for a particular feral cat colony if you ask around local humane societies and low-cost veterinary clinics. Once you hook up with them, it doesn’t matter if you Hav-a-Heart [...]

She did. OmAli said after the initial care and relocation of all the kitties, the funds went to Georgeann’s shelter. Of course any shelter would always welcome more.

LW, you’re tapping a vein, hitting a mother lode of such little-known stories that need to be repeated and passed on – “widely disseminated” is too clean and efficient a term. Much appreciated. Be safe.

I think US regionalism and nationalism are archaic notions now. Our young diverse and disparate populations will come up with something entirely new, and it will be fascinating. Wish I could be here long enough to witness it.
