boohoowho commented on the blog post NLRB Nominees to Get Recess Appointments Too
While I don’t think it’s proper for the Senate to hold up nominations of clearly qualified people, it bothers me that President Obama is taking this route as opposed to the one used by Roosevelt. While the constitution may give the President the right to fill vacant posts, the Senate is still in session and, to me, this seems like another power grab by the executive.
But if it is an attempt to consolidate or reclaim a Presidential power, then why hasn’t he use this power before? Apart from being up for re-elect, is there something special about this year that makes it different from the previous three?

Why is Florida usually ignored when talking about the 2012 Senate races? Nelson (who really isn’t much of a Senator) is polling ahead right now but the majority of the state went red in 2010.

boohoowho commented on the blog post Obama Losing Support from His Base
While a majority of FDL is devoted to left-based *commentary*, some content is simply political news that is of interest to lefties. And, like or not, this is news.
I don’t need every article on FDL to bash President Obama or tell me how ignorant the Republican front runner is. In fact, I’ve been frequenting the site a little less because most of the news that’s important to me has been colored too much by the commentary associated with the article. I usually end up just tracking down the source and ignoring the opinion-based article.
And frankly. your questions in 4 should not be asked of someone who is, in your words, “reporting.” That’s part of what’s wrong in this country, too much opinion and too little *fact-based* analysis.

I like how they all “hate the bill” and think it’s “imperfect” but they’re going to vote for it.

A couple of questions for those more knowledgeable about procedure.
a) Why can’t the Senate use the reconciliation process. Isn’t this budget-related?
b) Congress authorized the spending already (right?) so…why is there a debt ceiling law? The funds aren’t allocated when they pass a law that requires funding?

I started reading FDL because of Christy Hardin Smith and then began following you. Good luck with your new site! I’ll see you there.

I assume that the placeholders are being run against the ‘top’ Dem pick just to ensure that there will be a primary in every race. They aren’t meant to win the nomination.

Not like Alex Sink would have been much of an improvement. I was amazed that these two were the best either party could come up with. Even with all of the NPA’s, there was actually no one on the gubernatorial ballot worth voting for.
