    Great post Nat! Recommended.

I like the Max Weber quote, it really drives home what this all means.

It’s fine. No worries! You’ve made good points and I don’t think you crossed the line.

It’s fine. It’s not the first time and I suspect it won’t be the last.

I don’t really have any evidence. Just followed what the Guardian wrote to be safe.

In hindsight, I should have just removed it. I guess I still am cautious with Russia.

Funny story on the duck, I thought of adding it to “Mixed Bag” but then thought “Nah, I’ll pass it.” Can you imagine seeing that? I would feel like a child in a cartoon with the ocean as my bathtub. On the right-wing think-tank: Is it me or is the previous topic of Neanderthal so [...]

Thank you for reading it! I feel like another armchair journalist while others are out there in Ferguson, like my colleague Kevin Gosztola, actually covering these things. Still, if what I write can make people think, then I must be doing something right.

Plus, I’m glad FDL exists as a medium to communicate this.

Thanks cronetoo. I often wonder how many blacks must die for certain Americans to realize how important race is in this discussion (among other things).

“I sincerely hope I answered your question” You did: Wilson is presumed to be racist because “racism is inherent in our conscious as Americans”. In other words, Wilson is a racist because all Americans are racists? Huh? The collective conscious of America has racism built in. I’m not sure where you get the “all Americans are [...]

So what’s your explanation? He just killed him in a fit of rage without race involved?

    Thank you!

I’m not sure if they care to be familiar. In my house, we have Fox News in the living room (I don’t watch TV news anymore) and I can tell how the narrative on this is just distorted. It’s sad.

I’m not sure we can make an alternative scenario if Brown was white, but the outrageous reaction by Wilson, in my opinion, involves race. Why go after someone for walking in the middle of the street and killing them when they obviously were not a threat in the first place? It is not normal and [...]

It is alarming. I agree this is one issue in many, but I feel it is one not covered extensively. If such sympathy for those who obviously kill due to the race can be found, then what does it mean for our society? What does it mean for our structure?

I’ll pledge $10 since Kevin’s analysis is unique and valuable. Also, it’s the least I can do to help get a necessary voice in the mainstream narrative.

I wanted to bring up some historical documents referencing the state’s power on terrorism and militarization, but felt it detracted from the topic and would be better as a separate post.

Still, it is “amazing to witness in action.” Some things on this issue exposes the truly awful things placed under our rugs.

Thumbnail When it comes to police brutality, some white people just don’t get it. On Sunday,  The Guardian  featured a piece on the shooting of Michael Brown. What was astounding was how it was about supporters  for the officer, Darren Wilson, involved in the death of Michael Brown. In St. Louis, Mo., protesters, “almost all white” as journalist Jon Swaine wrote, [...]

Anytime! Environmentalism in Latin America is an interesting topic and, often times, very depressing.

Oops, must have forgotten to change the opening.

Edit: Wait, I confused myself. The Roundup is done six days a week so the one I do on Sunday is published front-page the following morning. The only exception is Friday where there’s the morning one and the Late Night one. Hope it made sense.

    I agree 100 percent!

On Friday, I went to an orientation to assist my college newspaper since I’m now with more responsibilities. It was at our college and we had an hour break with djembe playing since it’s the Year of South Africa at our college. It was one of the best experiences I ever had. Made up for waking up super early. I’ll be playing it at an upcoming marching event.

Thanks for the video, maa. It’s great to see it in person, but even better when you do it yourself.
