Hmm, Phoenix Woman you are doing yeoman’s service with these countdown articles. The Farmers’ Markets article was great. Target Field with the shout out to my favorite Nordeast sausage house was fabulous. We need to talk about Nice Ride (and places that rent bicycles for longer than 30 minutes). Minnehaha Falls is raging, worth seeing, [...]

Okay, I’m going to stay up just to see if Obama can resist saying, “Mission accomplished.”

Crowley resigns. Sigh.

Okay, becomingjohngalt, which of the quarter-million or so cable/transmissions/etc (of course, not that many have been released) have resulted in a US intelligence asset being exposed? Just asking. I’m sure you can point to a specific one or multiples. After all, that’s how computers work.

I find it ironic that our commander in chief made an anti-bullying speech today.

I found this part of the AP article amusing:
The AP is identifying Matt, Paul and other current and former undercover CIA officers — though only by partial names — because they are central to the question of who is being held accountable and because it enhances the credibility of AP’s reporting in this case. AP’s policy is to use names whenever possible. The AP determined that even the most sophisticated commercial information services could not be used to derive the officers’ full names or, for example, find their home addresses knowing only their first names and the fact of their CIA employment. The AP has withheld further details that could help identify them.
I guess Emptywheel and her minions do not qualify as a sophisticated commercial information service but there has to be more than a dozen folks here who now know the full name of the man ultimately responsible for the death of Gul Rahman–and by the way why doesn’t the AP article name him?

Well, I’m no Black Eyed Peas fan, but good for them for issuing a very gentle callout to Obama to generate some jobs and stimulate the economy.
Go Packers! I’m a Vikings fan but I root for the Pack as long as they aren’t playing the Purple.
The Stillers? Pfft. I’ve disliked them ever since Franco Harris broke my heart with the Immaculate Reception. It makes me happy that it appears Big Ben is not looking his usual big-game self. I sure hope Woodson is able to return.

burnt commented on the blog post Is the Government Alleging Bradley Manning Loaded Encryption Software onto DOD Computers?
I haven’t been paying super-close attention lately but if nobody else has mentioned it Jacob Applebaum is one of the developers of Tor a nifty piece of software that every good firepup should be running. It anonymizes your web traffic, chats, remote logins, etc. The nitty gritty is here:
And here is an article about incorporating Tor into home routers with a quote from Mr. Applebaum:

I can’t believe Tor could be installed on Bradley Manning’s government computers but then I can’t believe one could use a USB drive on them either so what do I know?

We’ve had just about 16″ at the airport here in Miniappleohs. However, we’ve had almost no snow in the past two hours. I think the Giants will be able to sneak into the city in time for the game.
It’s straight up winter wonderland here. Bittersweet and I were riding around on our bicycles earlier in the day and we had a magical time (Nokian tires are the best. Carbide rules). Minneapolis is stunningly beautiful during and after a snowstorm. I know our fair-weather friends might be hard to persuade but it really is fabulous here at the moment.
It really is great living in a place with four honest seasons. It’s too bad our NFL warriors won’t be outside experiencing the weather. I wish the Giants had to play at the old Met tomorrow–that would be a serious game.
Cheers, firepups.
