While they’re at it, they might show Cain and his tea party friends the science on evolution, global warming, abortion and economics, too. It’s pathetic that politics in the most advanced nation the world has ever seen is increasingly dominated by scientifically illiterate pseudo-Christians.

With all the prayers and all the bad weather, there is only one viable conclusion for those who believe in the efficacy of issuing instructions to the almighty: God hates Rick Perry.

When future generations look back, these scandals will be paltry by comparison with the Murdochs’ role as the Goebbels of American neo-fascism, neoconservatism and neoliberalism. They’ll be seen as the Pied Pipers who led a great nation over the precipice with propaganda (thinly) disguised as journalism.

Obama is getting a bad rap because of a typo. He didn’t promise to be a fierce advocate, he promised to be a farce advocate.

Ramadan is the Muslim month of prayer and fasting, and the fact that Governor Perry and his ecclesiastical courtiers have chosen this time for their prayer and fasting event would be, by the usual standards of proof in American politics and media, prima facie evidence of a conspiracy by covert Muslims to impose Shari’a law on the US.

One would think that adults would have figured out by now that you don’t get something for nothing, but it seems that most Americans haven’t.

I guess it’s back to back alley quacks with coat hangers. They don’t have to have special exit doors and other architectural amenities. When women desperate enough to consult them and too poor to go elsewhere start dying of complications, the conservatives will gleefully declare that justice has been done. It’s a long way from Jesus and the woman about to be stoned for adultery.

Have you ever noticed that when something good happens, the politicians take credit. When something illegal happens, they knew nothing of it. Think of Reagan and Bush I during Iran Contra. Think of Iraqis and Afghans being handed over for torture under Obama. And in today’s climate of complete impunity for even the most egregious offenses, there is no restraint on the wicked or justice for their victims.

Hillary’s performance in office refutes (or, as Sarah says, refudiates) the presumption that voters had any significant choice between her and Obama in the 2008 Democratic primaries. Both are loathsome, lying, warmongering, fascist corporatists, different only in color and sex.

Having gutted our manufacturing base, the only things we have to export nowadays are problems. Just ask the Iraqis, Afghans, Colombians, Mexicans and practically anyone else with whom we’re involved. In the wake of the 2008 financial meltdown, ask just about anyone, anywhere.

Don’t you just love that phrase “kinetic military action”? “Your Honor, I wasn’t beating my wife, I was having a kinetic discussion with her.”

It’s very clear by now that the majority of our fellow liberals are a bunch of unprincipled partisans or personality cultists. They applaud Obama for doing the same things he and they denounced when Bush did them.

$35,800 would feed a lower- or lower middle class family for 5 years, but without jobs and with slashes in the Department of Agriculture budget, I guess they’ll just have to scrounge the dumpsters after Mr Hopey-Changey’s sumptuous repasts.

The bill doesn’t go far enough, however. Congress needs to legalize cannabis in Washington, DC, home of a lot of hyperaggressive people who take themselves way too seriously. If our top politicians, generals and bureaucrats took up cannabis, we’d surely be a more peaceful, compassionate country.
