I definitely recognize Rachels over-focus on Republicans as a possible way of misdirecting anger from the Obama Administrations shortcomings, but can this please be written a little better without the juvenile ad homs? “Mad Cow Maddow”? Grow up, you sound like teabaggers.

Yeah, not sure if I’m getting the arugula metaphor. Arugula is GOOD for you, while the President’s right-wing austerity agenda isn’t.

  • Well, the fix is in folks. As you may know,  the Super Congress we’re all so excited for needs only a simple majority (i.e. 7-5) to be granted an up-or-down, no-amendments-added vote in Congress. So naturally with the Republicans who will always either vote in lockstep, or have mad dissenters hollering to go even further [...]

Great column, Bill. It pains me to no end to see this turducken of astonishing hypocrisy from the GOP in this nonsense Medicare debate. To hell with Samuelson, Brooks, Will and all the other right-wing pseudo-intellectuals.

Has Ryan ever even attempted to legitimately rebut any of the accusations against VoucherCare? All I’ve heard so far is “bah liberal lies”.

  • These kind of hideous musings are to be expected from McConnell and his ilk, but we must always remember that stubborn little detail that the U.S. COC/Wall Street, McConnells bosses, are heavily against the idea of even threatening a default, let alone an actual default. This is all kabuki, anything McConnell (or anyone in Congress, [...]

Great reporting Rania, I had no idea this was going on. Our chains to consumer culture are getting shorter and shorter, we need about 400 more Frankens in Congress.

I understand your frustration and I mostly agree. The man does lie. He lied about the PO, he lied about reining in Wall Street, and he may very well not deserve a second term. That being said, I feel war is one of those sensitive, universal issues that even the politically apathetic can get behind. [...]

Agreed, I addressed exactly that in the post. It technically isn’t a real reason to pull out, but its as good a public opinion fuel as any.

No doubt the killing of Osama Bin Laden is a monumental benchmark in our near-decade long “War on Terror”. What’s important now is how we, as the American people, react to it. Many should be commended for the successful strike on bin Laden: the intelligence community for tracking the courier, the President who signed off [...]

Agreed with Krugman until that last paragraph. It’s strange to believe the Obama administration would “welcome” the opportunity to show who’s in Wall Street’s pocket when their cabinet is almost entirely beholden to Wall Street. The COS is a former JPMorgan executive for gods sake. I love Krugman, but the gloves need to fully come off already.

What a schmuck. And, of course, shame on Obama. God knows there’s been no shortage of that phrase since January 2009.

Oh for fucks sake can we just start a primary movement already? His COS pick is a man who just described the governance from Reagan, to Clinton, to GWB as CENTER right. As nice as he was to let gays die in his (yes, HIS) endless wars, the man is so very clearly seduced and enamored by the rich and powerful. He’s not on our side. Time to draft a candidate and rally the troops. The clock is running out, people.
