Even squelching a small uprising suggests that it has the potential to be significant, and therefore they deemed it worthy of attention. However, I see where you’re coming from.

ThumbnailWal-Mart has never been very friendly to the idea of organized labor, quite the opposite. Their activities to thwart organized labor in the workplace can be traced even as far back as when Sam Walton was still running the show in the 1970s, when Walton opposed a Retail Clerks Union organizing in the workplace by hiring a [...]

To follow up, Congresswoman Gabbard (D-HI) is a definite no now

Although she hasnt outright said it, some sources would indicate that Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) is leaning nay. One here from Politico

“If this authorization is approved and this limited strike occurs as the president has presented, there are a number of things outside of our control that could occur, which could potentially further obligate us into something within Syria and the region,”

Obama confirming does not equal actual confirmation. My last posts have suggested that. There has been no clear showing that Assad himself or his regime ordered the use of chemical weapons.

Also, optimistic high schooler me was not necessary realistic.

ThumbnailDear President Obama, “If you thought Iraq was rash, maybe you should take a look at your response to Syria.” My 8th grade special topics class posed the question of whether or not we should invade Iraq, back when the subject was up for debate before the actual invasion. Being that I was in 8th grade, [...]

Very very very true. Case in point: every miner that ever worked for Massey Energy

  • Not sure if anyone has him yet (Didnt see it on the permanent list) but Bill Shuster (R-PA) said in an update on his facebook page that he has not seen a good argument yet and is “leaning against any military intervention”

Thumbnail Mountaintop removal mining is devastating Appalachia. An “island in the sky” may sound like a nice, tropical vacation spot, but in West Virginia it carries a whole different meaning. The Jarrell family cemetery used to sit atop one of Appalachia’s many pristine and beautiful mountains. The cemetery hasn’t moved, but the mountains have. Situated in the [...]

I’m not sure what you think doesn’t sound right. Union membership 11.3% (total nationwide). 27.8% of the injuries in mines were in unionized mines, meaning 72.2% of injuries occurred in non-unionized mines. 20.2% of fatalities were in unionized mines, meaning 79.8% of fatalities occurred in non-unionized mines. This particular data shows a clear trend of [...]

Thumbnail From DonkeyHotey on Flickr There is a reason why we have a day called “labor day” and not one called “corporation day.”  We do not dedicate a day to the social and economic achievements of entities like Walmart or McDonald’s because they are not the workhorses that built the country. Organized labor created a way for [...]

I have yet to see any comprehensive information released by the White House (nor do I really expect to have any released) regarding what exactly they expect to accomplish by bombing Syria. The negative implications of a military strike are limitless. I dont see why its so unreasonable to stop and think things through instead [...]

No comment on the stupidity of the Syrian government, but I do agree that we need to stay out of it. The U.S. interests are minimal at the very most, and we cannot afford a war financially and with the already strained military

I’m not talking about FDL or most of the posters here. I’m talking about the audacity of people who proudly proclaim they are straight up the middle – like Centerleftorg.
