Oh please…this discussion has raised snark to new heights. It gives us all the chance to be another Addison DeWitt.

Brilliant. But don’t forget Hitler. There are many who still think he was a hero so don’t forget him in your simple-minded attempt to make what you laughingly think is a point.

No one denies he broke the law; that’s what heroes sometimes do…they break the law when they see it as the only course open to them. The history books are veritable roll calls of those who broke the law in the name of what they saw as the right thing to do and who are now enshrined as heroes. Some of them “broke the law” by staging a revolt against lawful authority. Their names are on the Declaration of Independence.

Along with embracing a pair of predator banks and a media conglomerate that brings you Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. All that’s missing is sponsorship from Chick-fil-A.

And you know for a fact that Manning had the time and the resources to sift through that mountain of documents while faced with releasing all of them or the chance of being stopped before he could release any?

Equating this nationally divisive issue with your birthday party is indeed “simple”…but not quite in the sense you intended.

What he did? You mean exposing the war crimes committed in your name and my name? Exposing the torture, the atrocities and by doing so putting his freedom on the line? If manning’s “crime” helped turn the tide of opinion on Iraq, if it helped shorten the war by one minute, if it helped reveal the stinking rot and degradation tp which this country sank under Bush–and remains under Obama–then he is a hero as far as I’m concerned. If you think he’s just a misguided fool then maybe you’ve been spending too much time with the dogs.

Then what is the parade all about but to celebrate the growing influence and acceptance of a once universally despised minority? And what better way to do that than to challenge the establishment by honoring one of its most notable gay victims? Obviously those in charge must have felt the same way until they decided it was safer to back down. And that more than anything else is the crux of the matter…the utter cowardice of those who claim to be in the vanguard of LGBT rights. It’s not Manning who was fucked over; it was every gay man and woman in America.

Anti Semitic Israel haters? Is Teller serious tossing out that hairy old chestnut, the claim that any meaningful criticism of Israel is anti Semitic? If I want to hear AIPAC propaganda I’ll go straight to the source, thank you. You do know AIPAC I presume…the Israeli lobby that exerts a totally imaginary influence over congress.
