I comment on a rare basis and as usual, you said it better than I could. I was happy to see my annual membership receipt in the email box yesterday and am proud to contribute to FDL in that way. I found FDL from a link on BradBlog way back when and have been a [...]

I’ve been mostly lurking forever and this is the best site I visit daily. I joined for many of the reasons listed above and I can’t say it any better other than I’m so excited at being a member!

So sorry I didn’t express myself as well as you do. You obviously did miss my point. Thanks for the reply.

I’m not quite sure I understand what the opposite point is that you are referring to. First, the actor was James Stewart. George and his community bank symbolize that everyone has a more “wonderful life” when they reach out to each other and support each other. It raises everyone up. But as shown in the [...]

Yes, exactly. What happens when George isn’t there to make those contributions to the community and run the community bank? Pottersville is what happens and we get no contributions to help those that need it most.

  • Thank you for the heartfelt story. I admire your ability to write so well about a very personal subject. Well done and take care. I love reading the articles you write and I also enjoy your comments. Keep it up. There are people who care even though we may be lurkers and not comment much.

Why do rupuglicans want to live in Pottersville? Just think about all the themes in “It’s A Wonderful Life”. They really do want to live there apparently.

Wow, I’m just someone who lurks every day but I really appreciate every article you write here. I’m sure I’ll read everything you write on your new site as well. I’m glad to hear you’re taking BMAZ along. Thank you for all the great articles and I hope to see you on your new site soon!

In WA State the pooled market is WSHIP, set up for those that are refused insurance from the private health insurance companies. It’s terribly expensive, set up by the private health insurance companies, denials galore and just bad all the way around but it is an option for those with pre-existing conditions. The insurance commissioner’s [...]

  • That has always been my theory as well. I really liked the Mother Jones article from Feb 2004, The Lie Factory, by Robert Dreyfuss and Jason Vest. It was such a good look into the Office of Special Plans. And then look where they all ended up. Fascinating…

  • I see the problem with my analysis (not a surprise!) and it does look like there would be numerical listings within each nationality. Hicks from Australia is US9AS – 000002DP so he would be number 2 from AS. I see one other person from Australia, Habib US9EG-000661DP but I’m guessing the US lumped him in with the Egypt detainees because he was born there which explains his ISN. If that follows then there would be a number 1 from Australia?

A search of all the PDFs of detainees files to see if the detainee numbers you are looking come up like the one for Padilla did would be a help. Is it possible to search the Wikileaks files that way without having to open up each one and search it individually?

  • I like this search link for the number of the detainee:

    http://wikileaks.ch/gitmo/isn.html

There are numbers that are not represented in the Wikileaks dump but many are there. Abdallah Aiza Al Matrafi appears to be number 5 and Mullah Norullah Noori appears to be number 6.

I hope I’m reading the files correctly.

  • I’m going to guess that David Hicks is number 000002.

Great! It was a nasty one. I hate to admit that this is the second time I’ve gotten that bug. The first time I was able to get rid of it with my anti virus program in safe mode and a boot scan but this time it was a little more persistent for some reason.

I have a question for Amb. Wilson and EW. Did anyone ever find out who was responsible for the Iraq-Niger uranium forgeries? Was there ever an investigation into who forged the documents?

    Hi MadDog,

I got the AntiVirus 2011 critter as well. I ended up using my restore function. It was a bitch! I’m also up to date with anti virus etc…

Thanks to you, EW, Bmaz, Mary and on and on for all the great writing and comments. I read daily and always appreciate the in depth analysis here.

I still have that article as a hard copy and I miss the excellent flow chart in the online version. It was a great picture of “The Intelligence Chain”. HBGary planting false docs to discredit Greenwald, Brad Friedman etc. is so like the Niger Uranium forged docs that were shown to be a fraud. What a web.

Yes, that’s a great one — it’s on the list for sure! I found a very unusual song, “I Light A Candle”, by a French singer, Isabelle Longnus, that was interesting. Here’s the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yov9O3t7oxA Not sure if I did that link correctly, I usually just lurk. Another obscure one is a version of “Stay [...]

I weep as well. I would like to suggest an entire evening of songs of peace/anti war for my husbands band. Any suggestions? Maybe it can help. You never know, sometimes the smallest efforts can make a difference.
