Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Upper Big Branch Mine Report: ‘Deviant Practices’ By Massey Energy
Davitt McAteer was commissioned to lead an independent investigation into the Upper Big Branch Mine Disaster, an explosion in the Massey operated mine in Raleigh County, W.VA that killed 29 miners last April. McAteer and his team finished their investigation and released the information to the families of the miners who perished in the [...] -

Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Racism and Sexism: West Virginia Politics At Its Worst
I generally try to avoid the stereotypes of West Virginia (inbred, racist, un-educated, etc.) because for the most part they perpetuate a myth that the state itself doesn’t live up to. We are not inbred redneck white-supremacists like a lot of the common jokes and stereotypes suggest. However, much to my disappointment, racism is still [...]

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Water Cooler – Things Getting Hotter In Syria by Bill Egnor.
I keep praying for peace. My family is from Syria although nearly all of them have immigrated to the United States, we still have some distant relatives that are living in Damascus. Hopefully there will be peace soon.
Good post!

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Bashar al-Assad: Crimes Against Humanity by Chuckie Corra.
In Syria’s history, it is a brutal crackdown. Hafez al-Assad’s reign may have been considerably worse, which is why i pointed out that it was “one of the worst’ in Syria’s history. The media coverage of the revolution (with the exception of outlets like Al-Jazeera) has been minimal. videos like this one show how bad [...]

Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Bashar al-Assad: Crimes Against Humanity
Syria jumped on the revolutionary bandwagon January of 2011, and the protesters that comprise the movement have witnessed one of the most brutal authoritarian crackdowns in the country’s history. Recently, the United States and European Union have initiated pretty meaningless sanctions in order to “put their foot down” and encourage Syria’s government to ease up [...] -

Truth, Truth, and Truth. Will do. It’ll be interesting to see how the primary elections turn out. Thanks for your comment.

Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Little Love For Gays Or Women From West Virginia’s GOP
Its been a long time since I’ve written for MyFDL, since December 24th, 2010 actually. Its been too long! I thought I would make my return an amusing one and introduce the FDL world to the “wild and wonderful” GOP field of candidates for the West Virginia Gubernatorial election ( We’ll see how many get that pun ). [...] -

Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Don’t Believe Fox News – It’s Okay to Say Happy Holidays

“It’s not a Christmas tree yet, it’s only an Advent bush. I’ll call it a Christmas tree when it’s actually Christmas.”
– Memorable quote from a priest I once knew. Fox News seems more than willing to associate the word “war” with something like Christmas. Whether it be Gretchen Carlson going on a rant about how [...]

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Don Blankenship’s Coal-Dust Covered Golden Parachute by Chuckie Corra.
Coal slurries seeping into the water where some of my family live actually, part of a massive lawsuit against Massey.
Blankenship is a horrible scourge for the state, however Massey still needs to clean up their act despite him leaving.

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Watercooler – Should Progressives Be Happy (At Least For A Little While?) by Jim Moss.
Whether Obama plays a part in a Progressive agenda or not doesn’t matter as long as it gets passed and pushed into law. Yes, it seems that no matter what the man does/doesn’t do he will always be held under a microscope and nitpicked for everything to some progressives. Always keep the heat on the [...]

Chuckie Corra wrote a new diary post: Don Blankenship’s Coal-Dust Covered Golden Parachute
Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship announced his retirement rather suddenly earlier this month, much to the pleasure of environmental activists in West Virginia. Though the realist in me believes his successor will be a carbon-copy of him, I’m grateful nonetheless that this truly despicable man is out of the head spot at Massey. But Blankenship [...] -

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Watercooler – Obama’s New Best Friend by Jim Moss.
She knows that she can win for being a “semi-independent” voice. I doubt she would switch to the Democratic ticket, that wouldn’t bode well in Alaska even if the Democratic contender in the Senate race held his own very well. She just knows that the electorate in Alaska backs her, so she doesn’t have to [...]

Rockefeller also supported him highly even before he announced his candidacy. It’ll be interesting to see if he tries to talk some sense into him As for the party, he claimed that his family would all be in and he wouldn’t be able to see them any other time. I find it hard to believe [...]

That was a real gun. And yes, but lets consider who was running on the other ticket. I’d take Manchin over Raese anyday. However, he needs a primary opponent.

Chuckie Corra commented on the diary post Democratic Senator Skips DADT and DREAM Act Votes for…A Christmas Party!! by Chuckie Corra.
In my opinion he shouldn’t, however the West Virginia voter base is another story entirely. Its hard to tell how the state felt about DADT as a policy, and I assume a majority wouldn’t support the DREAM Act. So if that holds true, then Manchin may very well be representing the views of most of [...]
