Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Preserve Marriage Washington Misses Own Referendum 74 Signature Goal
Of course, don’t forget the cushion of extra signatures is meant to offset the inevitability that some, or even many signers will be invalid. Some people will be indecipherable, some sign “Mickey Mouse” or something just to be done with it, some are not registered as voters.
If they fail to get on the ballot it might be because of that, too many invalid signers and not enough cushion.
But I wouldn’t get my hopes up on that. They will probably get on the ballot. But it’s still a bad bellwether for how their campaign will find recruits in the fall.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post OFA to NC: show President Obama you’ve got his back (but he doesn’t have yours on Amendment One)
Well, no self-respecting LGBT North Carolinian would show their face in an OFA office in 2012.
If they’re still inclined to help the president get reelected, I wouldn’t argue with that, necessarily.
But, I certainly hope they seek out other ways to do so, via other advocacy groups that DID have the LGBT community back on Amendment One, like MoveOn, Courage Campaign, NAACP, Democracy For America and others.
To paraphrase Kanye West on George Bush: “OFA dont’ care about gay people.”

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post How Much LGBT Money Went to Members of Congress Who Won’t Sign ENDA Letter to President Obama?
I love this.
Accountability, it’s a good thing.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Wife of NC State Senator says Amendment One is necessary ‘to protect the Caucasian race’
all decent North Carolinians take note
RIGHT ON!
You don’t have to be black to be horrified by these comments.

Or NOM’s 2M4M debacle.
They don’t learn though because they aren’t very bright.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post There Is No Super Secret Obama Waiting for 2013
I don’t know why people can’t wake up to the idea that untethered from having to shore up the Democratic base for reelection, Obama 2013 could be even MORE conservative and Republican Lite than the version we got in first term.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post U.S. Sen. Scott Brown to LGBTs: You’ll Get No Promises from Me
Wow. He’s not trying huh? Seriously, our issues are “pet projects?”
We have a candiate that WILL go on record with her vote on ENDA, UAFA, Respect for Marriage Act and the whole other cornucopia of good stuff the LGBT community would like to get out of the Senate.
Thanks for playing, handsome, but you’re the weakest link. Goodbye!

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Why has NOM’s chairperson been silent during scandal?
Eastman needs to be asked by the media if the 2012 strategy memos outline the same tactics as the 2009 ones did, or have they changed course? After all, it was a board report, he’s chair of the board, he’d know.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post CNN suspends Roland Martin for homophobic Tweets – and the double-sided race card
Steele is a buffoon. This line of “reasoning” is absurd. Lots of Jews could pass as Gentiles, but their civil rights are affirmed by law. Atheists too.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Mayor Booker: Dear God, we should not put civil rights issues to a popular vote
Swoon!!!

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Shall we vote on alleged adulterer, hypocrite and anti-gay MN lawmaker Amy Koch’s marriage?
Thank you for the plug and the congrats.
I admit, I am not above reveling in a little Schadenfreude. :-).
Poor Amy. It’s a bitch living in a glass house when you’ve tossed so many stones about, isn’t it?

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post The desperation of Little Ricky: Santorum asks Palin for help to stay in the Clown Car
Even Palin isn’t stupid fast enough to hitch her sinking ship to Santorum’sboat anchor.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Herman Cain launches web site catering to misogynists, attacking ‘husbandless’ accusers
Do you think Palin swooping in would really surprise anyone? I think the insanity thus far has immunized me to genuine surprise. It’s definitely entertaining.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Herman Cain launches web site catering to misogynists, attacking ‘husbandless’ accusers
This is so disgusting.
On the bright side, I am fairly confident the vast majority of Americans can see that. I mean all of those who are not already so enamored of Cain that they actually believe White is secret platonic friend Cain helped for 13 years behind his wife’s back.
On Gloria, as a friend observed, “Any wife who doesn’t know what her husband is up to for 13 years, doesn’t want to know.”
As F. Scott Fotzgerald observed, “The rich are not like you and I.”

Clarknt67 commented on the diary post Michael Moore Exposed As A Fraud by Michael Cavlan RN.
This diary well illustrates why OWS’s decesion to be a leaderless organization is a wise one.
Leaders, self-appointed or not, invite us to bicker and argue amongst ourselves about personalities, not politics.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Occupy Wall Street Doesn’t Need to Issue Any Demands (Yet)
I agree.
At the exponential rate they are growing, it is too soon to “make demands.”
If their currency is their inclusive clarion call to rebel against the 1% why shift the focus when people are still falling in line?
Who knows? Maybe they will never issue a coherent list of demands.
They have done something valuable though. They’ve changed the conversation away from how evil teacher’s unions are they ones to blame, how cutting entitlements will save the country.
They have demonstrated to progressive politicians there is as much anger, frustration and PASSION on the left as in any Tea Party rally. And those politicians would do well to take the note.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Breaking – James Forrester’s falsified credentials: apparently he couldn’t stop at just one?
The American Medical Association’s Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs is here.
Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs
American Medical Association
515 N. State Street
Chicago, IL 60654
ceja@ama-assn.orgI suppose they can only censure Forrester if he is an American Medical Association member. (Can we presume he’s not now?)
But I suppose they could also be prompted to release a letter condemning the falsification of medical credentials. Forrester degrades the entire profession with lies. How many of us actually check the stated medical credentials of people we see for medical issues?

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Breaking: anti-gay N.C. Senator Forrester falsifies credentials – and an open letter to the lawmaker
I haven’t yet seen this story break out of the LGBT media.
But it really should State Senators should not be lying about their credentials on their own websites. This transcends LGBT politics. I hope the NC Democratic party at least sees an electoral opening here.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen becomes first Republican to sign onto DOMA repeal bill
acknowledge =/= “extoll” =/= “singing her praises”
I don’t really umderstand this attitude that the only politicians worth “extolling” and “praising” are the ones where we have 100% compliance on every conceivable issue.
IMO, someone doing wrong does not mean you cannot acknowledge when the do right.
I can say that Obama is right to drop the defense of DOMA on Wednesday and wrong to fight for the right to cut gay Servicemembers’ pay in half on Thursday.

Clarknt67 commented on the blog post Good Riddance to Maggie Gallagher
Yeah. I thought no matter how you felt about gays there was never anything attractive or charismatic about Maggie. She’s an awful person with a very shady past, personally and professionally. And unlikable swarmy and church lady-esque.
I always felt our community was lucky to have such an thoroughly unlikable foil.
I am very curious if she stepped down or was pushed.
(She left to spend more time with her homophobia… LOL.)
