Real souther cornbread does not use butter or sugar. Molasses and Bacon fat.

Heard by my mother in Publix one day on making corn bread: ” Now you take your baking drippins…You Do save your Bacon drippins ….”

This happened in Cudell which is not a rough neighborhood but it is a poorer one.

Question is, if the same ting happened in say Beachwood or Shaker or even Lyndhurst or Rocky River or Mayfield Heights, would the cops have responded differently ?

My mother’s stuffing was New England style bread stuffing, with celery+. And always the little fire hazard candles. We enjoyed the meltdown.

    So was mine.

All day that wonderful aroma as we waited for that turkey. Football helped pass the time for the grownups.

For us kids it was a game of monopoly, with a brief time out [...]

My other problem with large gatherings is that by the time the food is all ready, the guests rounded up, etc., the food is cold.

That’s why they invented microwaves. ;-)

When I was a kid living up here in the frozen north, my grandmother and aunt would come out from Cleveland and literally take over the kitchen. We had the usual turkey and dressing and vegetable and such and sometimes a Finnish dish of some sort. My mother was not happy about this though. She [...]

I cannot let you do that” Well guess I’m just [...]

The problem as I see it is that the so called “left” dow not that the desire or determination to do whatever is necessary to obtain what they want. The right certainly does. The right are so determined to “win” that they are willing to do what ever it takes to win. To lie, cheat, steal, [...]

As a baby boomer this is how I remember what live in the USA was like. The returning veterans of WWII wanted to just settle down and raise families. So the did. White people would live in the cities for the jobs there in all white neighborhoods or the suburbs or even out in the [...]

Situations often have to become very, very bad before those involved are willing to do what’s necessary for them to get any better.

Not trying to be heartless but I have learned that live and relations are NOT nice and neat and tidy. Quite the contrary, they are very, very messy. But that unfortunately is how we learn and grow. And also unfortunately is how we resolve problems in a way that we are not as likely to [...]

Sometimes David, things need to NOT end well. That we have to hit rock bottom before we are willing to climb back up.

SPOCK: This is how history went after McCoy changed it. Here, in the late 1930s. A growing pacifist movement whose influence delayed the United States’ entry into the Second World War. While peace [...]

All of that and promoting education as a means to wealth and noting more. Denigrating the trades and physical labor to actually build or make something. Technology that demotes cooperation and media that devalues communication to short test responses. People who can no longer think and let some computer do it. Self reliance consisting of [...]

My first show to get involved with was the HS Senior Class production. South Pacific. The show over all was typical HS horrible but had some good moments. The girl who played Bloody Mary was excellent. Really good in the part and a very good singer. I did sound and special effects and help a [...]
