Gas Prices this winter have collapsed :
Crank up the thermostat, or better yet, pocket the cash you’re about to save. Natural gas prices are approaching their lowest levels in a decade because of mild weather and enormous production.
Natural gas futures plunged 6.8 percent Tuesday as forecasts of warmer weather have eroded demand just as production is ramping up from new resources such as Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale.

The oil field yardstick -
The Baker Hughes rig countHOUSTON — The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. is down by 20 this week to 1,987.
The Houston oilfield services company Baker Hughes Inc. reported Friday that 1,191 rigs were exploring for oil and 791 for natural gas. Five were listed as miscellaneous. A year ago this week Baker Hughes reported 1,700 active rigs, 187 fewer than this year.

We added 200 rigs to the fleet in a year, that’s about as fast as they can be built.
Because of the gas boom , a lot of these drills are big hole rigs. They are very big.
The rig count peaked at 4,530 in 1981. A low of 488 was recorded in 1999. -

April 2 (Reuters) – The operator of Japan’s stricken nuclear plant said on Saturday it had found radioactive water leaking into the sea from a cracked concrete pit at its No.2 reactor in Fukushima.
Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said the radiation in the pit measured 1,000 millisieverts per hour.
Japan’s nuclear watchdog said TEPCO is preparing to pour concrete into the pit to stop the leak.
