Conrad1939 commented on the blog post Obama and Romney Effectively Tied
Agreed. It is the lesser of two bad candidates.
Maybe Obama is not so great but Romney will be a disaster for the country, especially if the Ryan budget get passed. Deflation is what we will get.
The supreme court could go super conservative for 40 years!
Besides these national polls do not mean much, the election is winner take all in each state so to know what is happening we need a poll in each state. -

Yes.

Now the treasury will sell 30yr bonds and the Federal Reserve can buy them.

Conrad1939 commented on the blog post The Dangers of Cutting Medicare and Medicaid
Agree with you completely.
Not much confidence in President Buckle anyway, but all republicans running for any office are much worse. We really do need Medicare for all, with a buy-in for those less than 65. -

Exactly, could not agree more.

The class war is over the wealthy have won. No political party represents anyone but the millionaires and billionaires. We have the best government money can buy. Sad to say.

Conrad1939 commented on the blog post Greece’s Two Paths: Massive Austerity or Eurozone Exit
I do not see how Greece leaving the Euro will work either. All debts in Greece are mostly in euros so if a new currency is introduced at a devalued level companies and individuals will go bankrupt since they will not be able to pay back the debt leading to a depression in Greece. Bond holders will have worthless paper so credit default swaps will have to pay off, meaning some investment banks will lose big.
Either way the people in Greece will have a tough time for several years. -
Conrad1939 commented on the blog post Obama’s Deficit Plan to Include Medicare Eligibility Age Increase
Was laid off at 59 and had to get health insurance. Got Kaiser but premium was $450 per month at age 63. It is a real problem for anyone age 60 to 64 and better not have any preexisting condition or cannot get insurance easily.

Great idea!

Maybe President Buckle will switch parties and run as a Teabag candidate and chose Michelle as VP.
-
Conrad1939 commented on the blog post Obama’s Deficit Plan to Include Medicare Eligibility Age Increase
Yes and raising Medicare to age 67 will probably cost each senior a $1000 per month for health insurance assuming they can find a company to insure them. Two years = $24,000. This is the worst deal for seniors every conceived by politicians.
Medicare eligibility age should be lowered with seniors buying in before 65. This would increase the health of the medicare pool of recipients. -
Conrad1939 commented on the blog post Postal Service Wants to Eliminate 120,000 Jobs
Agreed.
I will bet if you look at postal rates there is a big subsidy for business bulk mail. This should be raised to cover the actual cost.
The post office here in Sacramento is always busy. Looks like they need more help, not less. -

House vote on Cut, Cap and balance shows 9 republicans voted against the measure.
However, I suspect some voted against the measure because it did not go far enough.
