Haven’t seen the movie but just watching the trailer is a kinda of a “wow!” What was the biggest take-away from your filming? What surprised you the most out of this?

I worked for Booz Allen back in the early ’90s in the so-called Intelligence Community although at the time, we were providing acquisitions support (Quality Assurance, Configuration Mgmt, Systems Engineering, and IV&V). I was in the process of getting a TS clearance and was asked if I would protect classified information. I answered “Yes, but…” [...]

Or it could be that a lot of men prefer to not have to do a lot of manual labor requiring bulk or upper body strength.
But nice play to stereotypes there

Good afternoon Phil and Janet and welcome to Firedoglake this afternoon.
Phil I have not had an opportunity to read your book so forgive me if you address this in there. Why do so many jobs begin as being for men only yet rapidly turn in to “pink collar” ghettos? Is it because, as the airlines discovered, they can under pay the women or could at one time force them out when they start to reach positions of seniority? Or is it the service aspect that would make them think that anyone “serving” has to be a bit ‘queer?’

This probably gets me in trouble occasionally but foods like this and say meatloaf, I tend to rely as much on the odor of the food cooking to tell me when it is done as I do the sight and timing. I just remember the chicken almost falling off the bone but still moist and [...]

Or the 60 year old people coming to grips with the fact that their best hope is making it to 62 and early Social Security, and then to 65 and Medicare.
I resemble this. Less than a year to go for me right now. (although reality is, SS isn’t going to make things great for me, just improve the ability to hang on the fringes of life

Yeah both parents used the cream of mushroom soup as part of easing the cooking time. Dad’s parents had owned a roadside restaurant and he did a lot of cooking for us (especially after Mom went back to complete her degree) so I learned the efficacy of using the soup as a short cut very [...]

I dunno. I worked for Papa Booz for almost 6 years in the so-called “Intelligence Community” in the early ’90s. At that time, we only provided tech/IT support on systems acquisitions and not actual analysis as they seem to do today.
But the thing is, Snowden had his “tickets” (i.e., he came to Booz Allen with the TS/SCI clearance in hand.) They would have had no reason to suspect he would do something as he has stated he did. The hoops folks go through to get the alphabet soup TS/SCI are such that I have no doubt he had access to the info. People with that level of clearance do not come cheap and BAH could put him right to work instead of carrying on overhead for a year or more waiting out the background investigation needed for someone without existing tickets. I can also see a situation where his base salary officially is $120k per but also received ‘cost of living’ extras for being in Hawaii that would raise income to $200k level (which could include a signing bonus)
