alan – you’ve got to stop getting your phony math from Fox.
Walker’s big spenders are dwarfing anything in the Dems camp.

What about Dell? What about HP? What about the clothes you’re wearing right now? Or the shoes wrapped around your feet. It’s a sham to focus on Apple – it makes this issue a gimmick. There should be tarrifs on anything coming in from China… or Vietnam… or India… or Mexico – to name just [...]

This is timid stuff. Playing defense.
How about the goal of tax rates for the wealthy comparable to the Eisenhower years – just for starters.
As for unemployment benefits… instead of pushing for the bare necessity push for an increase in benefits – and training.
Where did these morons learn to negotiate?

As a FireDogLake member I have to say I’m glad they got him.
This guy was out to kill me. Period.
Anybody that is out to kill me is someone I want to kill first. Period. I don’t care what their cause is.

I’m not saying Wylde isn’t a hack — I’m sure she is. But she made an unambiguously true statement, which you ridiculed as false.

    Hey – try the decafe.
I never said her statement was false.

That’s some awfully thin ice Wylde is skating on…

But I did laugh! It’s thin ice whether or not any lines were crossed.

And jobs are ignored as part of Obama’s strategy:
From robert Reich on Huff Po:

I’m told White House political operatives are against a bold jobs plan. They believe the only jobs plan that could get through Congress would be so watered down as to have almost no impact by Election Day. They also worry the public wouldn’t understand how more government spending in the near term can be consistent with long-term deficit reduction. And they fear Republicans would use any such initiative to further bash Obama as a big spender.

So rather than fight for a bold jobs plan, the White House has apparently decided it’s politically wiser to continue fighting about the deficit. The idea is to keep the public focused on the deficit drama — to convince them their current economic woes have something to do with it, decry Washington’s paralysis over fixing it, and then claim victory over whatever outcome emerges from the process recently negotiated to fix it. They hope all this will distract the public’s attention from the President’s failure to do anything about continuing high unemployment and economic anemia.

  • Firebaggers is right.
We’ve been sold down the river. This deal is worse than a default.

  • “get out of jail free” – great way to put it.
Could Obama and Reid really be that stupid? Hmmmm, Reid isn’t up for election for quit a while and Obama might just think he can float above fray of congressional campaigns.
    Yup, it could happen.

  • I think they should just leave the capital building and force the Republicans to send the state police to drag them back in. It would be a wonderful way to get the situation back on the news. Might even make the national news – that would be wonderful!
And they would then still be in the state to campaign during the recalls.
Hopefully they will be media savvy and use this opportunity.

  • Also from the LA Times report:
“Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) also faces the prospect of running in a less friendly, though still winnable, district.”
Ha! It’s winnable? It’s mainly Crazy Dana Rohrabacher’s coastal district with a little latino added. Looks like her days are numbered.

  • He’s not a real candidate. It’s just part of a long running con job. He can’t run the con job without the fake front of being a possible candidate. Every decade or so he will actually have to file and run. It’s like the movie “The Producers”. It’s a campaign that’s not supposed to win. Once it’s over he can return to the con.

So what. Who cares if he has relationships with a hundred women?
I care about his policy not his personal life. It’s not as if he is a “holier than thou” kinda guy.
    Move on. Non-issue.

  • Wonderful post.

  • 1. Estate taxes at 75-90%
    2. Passive income, portfolio income, capital gains and earned income taxed at 5identically, and all pay SS and medicare taxes with no caps.
    3. Removal of “Corporate Personhood”
    4. Goods imported levied with tarrifs for twice the difference between our regulation (environmental & labor), and taxes.
    5. Services exported (offshored) charged a tariff equivalent to (4).
    6. Public financing of elections.
    7. A standard, published, analysis on the difference of costs between public provision of service and corporate provision of service.

Count me in on this “platform”.

Great! Obama can have his own set of extrajudicial killing baseball cards. At one time torture was supposed to be bad, but now Obama is moving things so far to the right that outright killing is the new “moderate” stance.

Does it feel comfortable to share viewpoints with John Yoo?

“Why do you feel the judicial branch is outdated? For the time being at least – though Obama is doing his best to undermine this – we have the criminal court system to bring to trial alleged murderers and attempted murderers.”
