I did the google thing on strep because I know that I read ‘somewhere’ which chromosome the strep gene was on……….and … whoa… a whole bunch of “yes it is genetic” and “NO, it isn’t genetic.” Ah, well. Time and more study and so forth.

I’m good. I and my kids and my brother all got the strep gene. Sister apparently didn’t get it. Interesting how it all works. I love the study of genetics.

There is apparently a gene that makes one susceptible to strep. Who knew? Those who get strep get strep; those who don’t don’t. I’m enjoying all the genetic research that is emerging.

Not really. I’m hopeful that the new PT group will give me some stuff to do. The old PT gave me lots of stretching stuff…. which brought me to pretty close to 100$, but the strenghthening is what I really need.

Hi, past. the 40s…..I cannot imagine. I’ve taken up walking again with my dear friend whom I’ve walked with several times a week for 15 years or so… and we both thought that my broken arm and my dad’s illnesses actually were helpful in the sense that we didn’t walk during this hot-hot-hot summer! Nice to be at it again, though.

I do understand your self protection. I do! But when this first went down, I felt strongly that she’d get her act together eventually (and not years and years and years) and reconnect. And I still feel that way. You and she are in my heart………..for the duration.

Suz, if it is any comfort, I have a dear friend whose daughter ‘went rogue’ and didn’t speak to her for a year……….and over time it all settled out and they are now back on track and happy. I hope for the same for you. And, no, it never made sense to anyone, but it all worked out anyway.

Wow! Isn’t that the truth! I’m curious to know what the age is when they stop getting up at the crack of dawn and decide that the crack of noon is really early enough. “:-)~

Thanks, Suz. I try not to go on and on. But first I was a teacher, then a social worker, then a lawyer…. but it’s always been about teaching. I wish I’d had someone to teach me! I muddled through, best I could. I think my dad appreciated my efforts.

The magic of twin munchkins is that they always have a pal! Last time I stayed at my daughter’s house, her munchkins were awake early and I could hear them playing together and building Lego stuff…. I finally got up with them and played, too…. and their mom and dad got to sleep in! Fabulousness.

On the other hand, when I discuss this stuff I’m also being ‘teacherly’…. cause you’re all going to deal with it at some point. I had no clue! Maybe I’ll write a book about how bizarre it can be. I didn’t know diddly…. and now that I do, I don’t have any more parents to take care of.

Hey, PPD and CT……….. let’s don’t go off on my issues!

Well, in truth, at that time I was so busy taking care of my dad that I didn’t fight very hard for myself. The PT said, “Take a couple of weeks off, and then we’ll ask again for more therapy.” And in those couple of weeks everything kind of fell apart.

I do, though, have a much better understanding of how so much Medicare goes for last six months of life.

And, yes, I do have a supplemental plan and think that if the PT had recommended more therapy that it would have been granted. Wimp!

This was a regular follow up. But I’m still angry about our deviant medical system. I knew that I could make more progress when I’d just started the strengthening exercises, but the PT was afraid that Medicare wouldn’t pay and so he wouldn’t ask for more. Believe it or not, my 96 year old dad was getting in home therapy through Medicare up until the week before he died, but I couldn’t get the PT to ask for it for me. My lawyerly skills failed me!

Hi, Suz. Lovely and quiet day on the south central coast. Saw my ortho and asked for more physical therapy for strengthening following my broken arm. He was all for it. He also, though, thinks I’m pretty much as far as I’m going to get…….which isn’t bad, but isn’t 100%. The broken arm healed just fine, but arm being in a sling for 2 months really weakened my shoulder, and I’d for sure participate actively in therapy!
