Obama did announce his desire to open the Atlantic for drilling. Right in hurricane zone……oh well.

Did he sneak any TTP junk through while we were all distracted?

I thought of you, eCAHN, when the storm was being hyped. FF and all….. wondered what might be going down while the east coast was distracted. But, my family on Cape Cod actually is dealing with the storm…. those in Maine, too.

I’m not much of a baker. I’m all about big hunks of meat braised or roasted. “:) I do love to cook.

And, Suzanne, it’s been fun to reconnect. I’ve had a busy and really good week, but I’m wearing down. Gotta get some sleep. Going to meet up with the dear-daughter and the twins in the morning to take the boys to buy new bikes for their late Christmas present. They are getting so big that they outgrow bikes frequently!

My daughter says that one of her friends, also a grandma, doesn’t want to do errands with her daughter. I was shocked! I just love hanging out and running errands with my girl while we listen to the cutie boys talking with each other in the back seat. What could be more fun?

Got to get my rest so that I have the energy to keep up with them!

Hope you continue to enjoy your respite……….. and also hope to meet up again soon.

    Happy trails………….

So glad you got your cookbooks back on the shelves! Comforting, indeed.

I still find Julia’s The Way To Cook to be the best and most useful cookbook I’ve ever had. I use it all the time. But I’m also getting into finding recipes on the google-machine……….. never thought I’d be that person, but I am!

I know! I loved the food stuff. I’ve been canning and preserving in small doses for years, and I love open’s information on food. Miss that girl!

The autism claim was so bogus that the perpetrator lost his medical license, but the loonies just refuse to get it. When Jenny McCarthy becomes my medical advisor, just shoot me!

But I loved openhope’s missives about her chickens and such. I miss her even if I don’t agree with her on this stuff. Give her my best.

Thanks for the link. I’m old enough to know a neighbor boy who got polio and a girl whose mother was living half her life in an iron lung and a darling friend of my oldest daughter who was on chemo and got measles and died. I just don’t get it. I also loved a boy who had mumps as a child and was sterile as a result. It’s craziness! What’s next, the resurgence of polio because someone thinks vaccines aren’t for their children?

    Ah, well.

Measles was a non-thing in the USA until Jenny McCarthy did her schtick.

One of my scientist friends said, “What…. are these folks pro=polio???”

Well, the crowd is busy tonight, so please let me express that I regret, Suz, that openhope and I had a tiff about anti-vax stuff. I always enjoyed her other sharing. The recent measles outbreak is so sad. But I respect open’s opinions; I just don’t share them. If you speak with her, please let her know that I miss her participation.

As hot as last summer was, it was also glorious. I’ve read that the coastal communities are doing the best job of conserving water. I know that my community is doing a good job. I don’t see too much about desalinization or other creative/forward thinking. I’m sure this summer will be hotter and dryer…….. and then the tides will rise. Saw the highest tide I’ve seen in 20 years just a couple of weeks ago. Gonna be an interesting time, for sure.

Real down time is such a gift!

I was happy to put 2014 to bed. Not my best year.

But 2015 is off to a good start……. working just enough to keep me happy and busy. Lots of time to visit my daughter. We enjoy hanging out with the boys and giving her guy/their dad some down time of his own.

Weather is beautiful. There was a big cruise ship in Santa Barbara this a.m. and I am constantly amazed at the size of those floating hotels.

Hi, Suzanne. Hope you have had a wonderful rest and rejuvenation.

Have you been doing anything special during your down time? Hope you and your family are just enjoying some visiting and that you are just resting up.

    Miss you, though!

So, yes, the south central coast is lovely. I’ve been working quite a bit…. and that’s a good thing.

Do you get back up on the mountain anymore?

Always fun to hear about your adventures with the munchkin. My own grandtwins are now 6+ and enjoying school very much! They are taking an ‘engineering’ after school special…… being guided in creating Lego art with geometry as the backup. Very fun.

I’d laugh, except it isn’t funny. And many commenters have mentioned that a farm wife would be baking her own bread and not accumulating bread bags from the store! :O

So Joni’s family gets tax dollars in subsidies for farming, for National Guarding, for Senating. What a laugh.

    Vapid.

A friend chose to go to Russia … kind of abandoned his family.. He figured that the culture and so forth of Russia was worth it. A couple of years later he returned. It wasn’t what he expected, anticipated. Oh, well.

Opera/ballet can only take you so far.

Corruption seems to be kind of universal.

    Sadly.

Just wow. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for that info.

I’m sorry if I appear uninformed …. or even stupid… I’ve been out of the loop. What do you mean about no anti-Israel release? Would/should we have expected ISIL/ISIS to have spoken out about attacks against Israel, for example? I’m just not getting it. I’m interested. Please fill educate me.

Now that made me curious enough to log in. Hi, eCAHN. What do you mean about “release against Israel.”? I’m finding the whole world collapse to be rather confusing. “release”? I’m here to learn.
