dick c commented on the blog post WikiLeaks Uncovers Report Showing Homeland Security Monitored Occupy Movement
We must have a bunch of morons over at Homeland Security. Why can’t they understand that the protest is all about the average person realizing that wall Street bankers are a huge threat to the security of the country… And the reason they think that is because they obviously are!

dick c commented on the blog post Panetta Fearmongers on Defense Budget Cuts

“I always wonder what era they believe we more closely hewed to Christian ideals.” Same here. They’ve been crying about this forever, but I’ve never heard an answer to that question. I’d love to see people start pinning them down on this.

dick c commented on the blog post VT Gov. Peter Shumlin Still Popular after Passing Very Progressive Health Care Reform
I’m a long way from Vermont… Did Shumlin have a well funded machine working against him in the media there? A succesful program there will definitely bolster efforts in other areas, but that’s different than duplicating Shumlin’s success in the same manner somewhere else.

dick c commented on the diary post Why Does the Washington Post Say “Changes” to Social Security When They Really Mean “Cuts”? by Dean Baker.
Given the extent of control the conservative faction of moneyed interests have over government and media, we probably won’t see any real fixes get good press, or even fair press, unless those interests stand to profit from them. That could mean there will be no actual fixes, just more crap along the lines of the [...]

If Obama and the Dems acknowledge that the 14th Amendment means what it says, then how are they going to allow the Republicans to “force” them to cut entitlements?

dick c commented on the blog post Mr. President, Why Haven’t There Been Criminal Investigations of Wall Street Elites?
So that gives us two related explanations: what the banksters did was just fine; and they are like us and we aren’t criminals, so it was ok, whatever the technical requirements of the law might be.
More and more I see why people often decide to dispense with “technical requirements of the law” and just hang them all.
