The “backlash” gambit? Seriously? When this country just had the Worst. Fucking. President. Ever. from 2001-2009 it took 8 years for the American people to figure it out and only after two failed wars and a massive recession. Anyone waiting for a backlash from this stupid shit public is brain dead.

I doubt many school administrators got to their vaunted and overpaid positions by taking courageous stances against people in power.

Have recently enjoyed several eateries in Hayes Valley: a German bierstubbe style place called Suppenküche (Hayes at Laguna) and one of the La Boulanges (Octavia/Hayes) and The Grove (Hayes/Franklin). Our vegan friends rave about Gracias Madre on Mission but haven’t tried it yet.

I’ll add my voice to the chorus who thinks that a rejection by Lieberman is the surest path to re-election. You do it, Joe, so we can kick your ass out once and for good.

I don’t believe these right wing trolls (apologies to the troll world) had such aversion to recalling politicians here in CA way back in ’03.

Count me as one who’s not unhappy to read Douthat basically relegating xianity to just-another-superstitious-side-show status in America. At least that’s how I read his final paragraph:

Or to put it another way, Christians need to find a way to thrive in a society that looks less and less like any sort of Christendom — and more and more like the diverse and complicated Roman Empire where their religion had its beginning, 2,000 years ago this week.
