    You make an excellent point. I live in Montgomery County MD–a big county with a million people and real budget problems.

    I have gone to my County Council member and suggested that he talk to our treasury people and find out if the county has been cheated out of fees and penalties. I have just gotten off the phone with his staffer to refine the questions and he is now off asking them of the appropriate people. He got the point.

    I recommend that everyone reading this blog go to their own county council people, forward this article and ask the questions.

    Every reader of this blog should immediately contact their county council member. We should be able to get every county council in the country screaming about this.

    I have just emailed my county council member here in Montgomery County MD and urged him to ask our two Senators and congresspeople and tell them this is unacceptable and to get the county’s fiscal people to give him an estimate as to how much the mortgage scavengers already owe the county and how much future revenue would be lost.
