You can follow, among countless others, Michelle Malkin, Jim Treacher…

Great, so every day I can have 90% of my twitter feed being lame jokes about dog -eating? Do even right-wingers want that?

I’m glad that they admit that ABC deciding to air that doctored version of the Zimmerman tape purporting to show a horrible head wound damaged their credibility. I mean, who would believe that kind of thing?

    Wait, what?

Oh, sure. The one major difference is that Joseph Smith thought the Lamanites could be made white and delightsome once again by generations of practicing the Mormon religion, while the Hamites were cursed forever.

Lamanites aren’t black people, they’re Native Americans. Africans are both afflicted with the Mark of Cain (a common traditional Christian belief) and incarnated with the souls of the angels in heaven who refused to take sides in the war with Lucifer (which is original-recipe Joseph Smith theology).

  • You’re misreading the emails, I’m afraid — it’s Gary Wamsley who cites McMegan. Nobody’s perfect.

So, what’s this story saying? David Brock is manic (and basically all of the other stuff is consistent with someone with poorly managed BPD), and kind of a shitty boss. And maybe one of his assistants carried a gun illegally once. Also, Media Matters is good at getting their material picked up by MSNBC and the liberal blogosphere, which anyone with two eyes and a half-dozen neurons to rub together knows. Finally, some people fucked on a desk at Media Matters HQ and didn’t get fired for it.

What an impressively sourced collection of disjointed, uninteresting non-revelations.

“neck-in-neck”? It’s a good thing McMegan comes from an intellectually intimidating family of academics, because otherwise I’d suggest she’s a moron.

Straw Dogs is a little more complex than that. Can’t speak to the remake, because I wouldn’t see it if you put a gun to my head. But Amy doesn’t enjoy being raped, and David’s flaw is not passivity.

The movie makes a lot more sense if you interpret David as the villain.

Actually, young Newt looks terrifyingly like Jonah Goldberg. Maybe he’s secretly Doughbob’s daddy.

I will admit this: I added that salt pig to my Amazon wishlist, because I’m about to move to a place with a bigger kitchen, and I’ve always wanted a salt cellar, and that one is adorable.

I will go weep in shame and infamy now.

Dana thinks it’s unfair to use the term “right-wing” to refer to “limited-government conservatives.” OK, then, Dana, can we still use it to refer to the white supremacist Christianist authoritarian scum you carry water for like your life depended on it?

I never realized that the rapture would turn everyone into Archie Comic book characters before it lifted them up

Al Hartley, who was an excellent artist and never failed to inject good girl art into even his Bible-thumping work, was one of the artists who pretty much defined the Archie house style and characters. Along with Dan DeCarlo and Samm Schwartz. Hartley’s the one who made Betty Cooper such a preachy bore.

He also got the rights to use Archie characters in a number of overtly Christian comics, and he still used the DeCarlo style even when he wasn’t using the characters.

Of course, the Sword of Truth series degenerated into insane Randroid tracts by the end, and the entire series viewed in retrospect definitely had a man-on-horseback quality. And some really retrograde sexual politics.

I know Stanislaw Lem was mentioned in the original post, but his work really deserves an exhaustive reading. Pretty much everything else has been covered well in comments.

I’m really confused what’s so pervy about “thingwarbler” and “CrustyDem”. Do you giggle every time mentions the “penal system”, Worthing?

Worthing: “For instance, say Egypt rounds up these bastards and gives them six months in prison. What do you think of that?”

I think at that point it would be reasonable to review whatever information was released by the court. It would also be reasonable to listen to Ms. Logan’s opinion on whether justice had been served. I’m sure she will be giving testimony at the trial. I don’t see any reason why she should be expected to make a public statement in advance of the trial so she can see the details of the attack on every television screen and newspaper even sooner.

The best part is the “Think at the margin” part, where Mankiw actually claims that giving tax cuts or credits to lower brackets is actually tantamount to increasing taxes on the rich. He’s specifically complaining about the phase-out of Making Work Pay between $75k-90k incomes. Greg Mankiw thinks that people will stop working once they’re making $75,000 in order to keep a $400 tax credit.

In fact, the logical conclusion of what Mankiw is arguing is that the most ‘productive’ tax scheme would be one in which each dollar is taxed less than the last — perhaps a 0% bracket starting at $500,000?

“The decadent Left in its enclaves on the coasts is not dead – and may well mount what amounts to a fifth column…” – Andrew Sullivan, Sept. 16, 2001.

“[W]e might as well be aware of the enemy within the West itself – a paralyzing, pseudo-clever, morally nihilist fifth column that will surely ramp up its hatred in the days and months ahead.” – Andrew Sullivan, Sept. 16, 2001.

That man has some fucking nerve giving anyone an “award” for intemperate rhetoric, except under the “takes one to know one” clause. I still refuse to give that man a gram of respect for his purportedly changed political views — at best, he’s found that it’s more profitable to be the Instapundit of the Mushy Middle than Yet Another Right-Wing Yowler.
