doubledown commented on the blog post Fact Checking Politifact: Wrong About Jon Stewart’s Use of the Word “Misinformed”
Hi Jane,
I commend you for being so politic and respectful in your critique of Politifact, but I won’t. It seems like I’ve seen a constant dribble of reports and responses to inaccurate or misinformed articles from Politifact over the last year, often erring to advantage conservative arguments and talking points. I do not consider them a trustworthy source. -

That’s good news.
Makes me happy that I became a founding member. This is a good use for my limited politics/activism money.
Thank you Jane and Pam.

doubledown commented on the blog post Late Night: The Potential Upside of a Rogue Weiner
The story about the 17 year old is just so much blowing smoke. Both the congressman and the girl says nothing inappropriate was ever said, and the parents have said they would press charges if there had.

Love your work. Maybe David Brock and the friends who fund him should take a closer look at developing a ‘Spocko Squad’ under the wing of Media Matters. This is exactly the kind of media activism that progressives should be potentiating with our ‘patient capital.’

Thanks for the great coverage David. Keep it up. This post should have been top of the front page.

doubledown commented on the blog post Kloppenburg Takes Razor-Thin Lead of 224 Votes with One Precinct Left UPDATE: Now 235
Feeling aggressive politically? Put it to good use.
Here’s some wise advice from Kloppenburg’s Facebook page: “Get out there and claim victory now! Define terms of recount debate first. These are the lessons from Bush v. Gore, Coleman v. Franken”
Don’t hedge in your communication. Be declarative about this. She won, she won, she won…

Winning the Kloppenburg-Prosser election will be as important to the progressive movement (distinct from the Democratic party, which it should be noted has been a solid ally in this fight at the state level in Wisconsin) as the victory over Joe Lieberman was in 2006.

doubledown commented on the blog post Wisconsin Judge AGAIN Blocks Anti-Union Law
If Kloppenburg wins the April 5th election, how soon will she replace David Prosser?
If Judge Sumi holds this in her court for another week ‘gathering more information,’ it could change the outcome of any eventual appeal to the state supreme court, which will flip from rightwing rubber stamp to something else if Kloppenburg takes it… -

Love that you are moving into investigating and reporting.
Also this:
Challenging not only opponents but [so called] allies.Yes, god yes. This is why I joined at the Gosprey level instead of doing something like giving $1,000 to the DSCC or DCCC. Now if somebody will just restart the 50-state strategy (perhaps located in the ’progressive movement’ rather than the Democratic party where it was susceptible to blue doggery) you’ll have some competition for my limited progressive-infrastructure-building donation dollars.

Correction on the FBi entrapment summary: That story has nothing to do with the Oregon arrest. It’s about a California case in 2007.
