I think that you are attaching too much importance to our troops there. One understrength infantry division doesn’t make much of a defense. The 2nd Infantry’s job is to act as a tripwire and pretty much die in place. Not an enviable job.

The sad state of the global economy is that countries like SK, China, Germany that run current account surpluses will find ways to maintain them free trade agreement or not. It’s called beggar thy neighbor. Considering the hype that surrounds these types of agreements,SK’s need for capital equipment that they don’t make themselves is likely much smaller than represented.

Obama has utterly failed the civil libertarians who believed his campaign rhetoric. Add in his fails to many other supporters and he wonders why his coalition has fallen apart.

Despite our high ideals for our system of justice, selective enforcement is well established practice. Usually it is used either for hammering down the nails that stick up or protecting the powerful. The only shocking thing about is the magnitude of the crimes.
