When I first moved to SF, we went to see Clarence’s band on New Year’s Eve at a bar. Got to talk with him and he was one of the happiest people around. Knew a lot of people who played with him and they all said the same thing.

Gallery owners will love to hear that. If your mother didn’t paint the other side of her unfinished works, artists are always looking for canvases-if you want to give them up.

About 15 years ago, our gallery came across about 100 original paintings from English artists of the 1950′s. They were very traditional and well-executed, but we hadn’t heard of any of the artists. But we got them at a good price and ended up selling about 60% of them. Just a thought.

I thought the bad form was all Palin’s, The way she twirled that poor kid around her hip, it’s a wonder she never dropped him. Her “handlers” probably told her to ditch the kid, which I’m sure she was glad to do.

If she sold her work, maybe there’s a list of clients who may want to buy. Depending on the client, they may also want works in progress. Art schools and galleries may be interested in easels-along with clients. Or E-Bay, which is all about niche collecting. Or sometimes you can include artworks in estate sales, even if they’re not your estate.

Good.Went to my nephew’s HS graduation in Napa last night. He’s also going to Pace in September. My dad and I were quoted about it for the local paper. Then a nice dinner party and another one tomorrow!

In the mid-70′s I was going to school in downtown NYC at Pace. I was working graveyard shifts as a doorman uptown across from the Museum at 79th and 5th. There were 13 floors and 13 tenants and each condo sold for $1-Million-that’s 1975 dollars. Doug Henning was going out with one of the tenants, so I saw him often. He was one of the nicest gentlemen I had ever met in NY, so it was no surprise to earn he was from Canada originally. He had the spark. Big fan of TM and always had a kind word and a smile. Died young from cancer, I believe.
