Great news — peace in Eastern Ukraine — no thanks to the U.S. or NATO, who are still rattling their cannons and missiles in the Baltics. … Minsk ceasefire protocol: Ukraine to be decentralized, special status for Lugansk, Donetsk Let’s hope the NATO warmongers allow peace and economic decentralization, which is bottom-line all those in Ukraine’s east [...]

And in real reality only one side, your side, is leaving the other side’s cities in ruins as winter approaches: Ukraine rebel-held city Donetsk left in ruins after shelling.

Putin, as usual, talking common sense, peace and negotiations. So you don’t get to read this in your scaresteria Western media:

“We have agreed on a plan , so its realization must be pursued,” Putin told Channel 1 TV, adding that the Ukrainian government “must immediately start substantial talks – not a technical discussion – on the [...]

You’re analyzing in an alternative reality that does not include that Victoria Nuland phone call. In real reality there’s an imperial push by the US/NATO/IMF to Ukraine’s border with Russia. In real reality Russia has never threatened the Baltic states militarily or economically, despite severe discrimination against Russians in both Estonia:

In Estonia … thnic Russians are [...]

If there is a NATO war with Russia (which I think is very unlikely), Shaun Walker has made his name as the Judy Miller of the conflict. I had read about the sharp increase in DPR forces, probably at MoonofAlabama. The terror bombing in earnest by Ukraine began about six to eight weeks ago? That [...]

I agree. Finance capital is at the very center of Western power, but it also knows it must satisfy the ‘needs’ of the Western arms industries. Just keeping those two in mind you can understand and predict most of what the West does. We’re lucky, really, to have a softie/whimp as President. (Or is Obama [...]

LOVE this one: 7. The usual Ukrainian talking heads, such as president Poroshenko, PM Yatsenyuk and others, are no longer available to be interviewed by Western media. Nobody quite knows where they are. There are rumors that they have already fled the country. Crowds have stormed their abandoned residences, and were amazed to discover that [...]

Not to be boastful, but things are playing out as I wrote in Ukraine’s Vietnam (MyFDL changed my title to Ukraine’s Vietnam?). Clearly Russia has (unofficially) increased its aid to the rebels, but I think after the random bombing of civilian structures in the east, there are many more recruits to the rebel side too, and [...]

I’ve had a similar experience. As for ‘RS’ you’re right, that is a huge problem. One way to deal with it is to use sources like People’s Daily. And of course a lot of time the RS doesn’t say what the pro-coup editors say it does.

You didn’t read my opening blockquote: “Yawn. …” As in, yes, of course there are “Russian forces” in Ukraine. Do you mean Russian volunteers? Russian citizens and supplies indirectly financed by the Russian government or directly financed by regime-connected oligarchs? If so, that has been going on for four or five months and is of [...]

Very well-said, recommended! Counterpunch’s irritating “anti-Keynesianism,” which is not even anti-Keynesianism but anti-the-fact-that-governments-resist-Keynesianism, which somehow Counterpunch adds up to “anti-Keynesian.” As you note, Hossein-zadeh proposes “overwhelming political pressure from workers and other grassroots” as the path to power, as if this contrasts with whatever he thinks Keynesians recommend to get over the hurdle that the [...]

Thanks, and thanks to normanb as well. The recent anti-reality ‘Russians are invading’ hysteria is definitely frightening, but I don’t _think_ it is penetrating the masses. We Americans (and Brits?) seem either invulnerable to b.s. this evidence-free, or, more likely, most of us are focused on the start of the football season and just aren’t [...]

According to Wikipedia, the people of eastern Ukraine are puppets of Putin, have no reason to complain about the US/EU-oriented Kiev government, and have no ability to act on their own. And, according to Wikipedia, Russia has already ‘invaded’ eastern Ukraine and a ‘Russia-Ukraine’ war has already begun. So much for a neutral point of [...]

ThumbnailPort, Odessa, UkraineThought better of adding the following analysis under this USA Today piece , just another in the mountain of ‘The Russians are invading!” entries in the Western propaganda sweepstakes:

Yawn … for months there has been large-scale and official U.S. and NATO assistance to Ukraine’s military and large-scale unofficial Russian assistance to the other side. The real [...]

  • Here’s the source Max Blumenthal cited (I bold-highlighted the quote used by most Israeli news sources):

All the Israeli papers stated that “Hamas admits to kidnapping three Israeli teens,” based on a recording from a Muslim scholars conference in Turkey. However, almost all of them used the translation given by Channel 2 News, which is not an [...]

  • DVN, I appreciate your effort to find the truth. At this point I have to respect Max Blumenthal and the sources he has dug up, which say that the Hamas official’s words have been improperly translated. It seems his first words, “It is said that…”, were cut off to make his speculation into an artificial [...]

  • Palestinian health officials say 2,114 people, most of them civilians and more than 400 of them children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since July 8, when Israel launched an offensive with the declared aim of ending Palestinian rocket fire into its territory. Sixty-four Israeli soldiers and four civilians in Israel have been killed.

Please note this is a disinformation effort, with the usual, an inaccurate translation, as the main tool. Israel has done this many times before and the mainstream Western media has been entirely complicit and cooperative, but it’s particularly reminiscent of the disinformation campaigns against Iran.

If you’re using the pejorative connotation of the term propaganda, “biased or misleading” persuasion, then show me where you think I published propaganda and we can have a rational discussion of the matter. I trust Max Blumenthal ten million more times than I do the Washington Post, and all your other sources are simply reprinting [...]
