FeetToDaFire commented on the blog post SF Pride President Capitulates to Military Groups, Announces Bradley Manning Won’t Be Honored
This is the email I sent to Stephen Peters:
Dear Mr. Peters:
It is my understanding that no one has been harmed as a result of the WikiLeaks releases. Former Secretary of Defense Gates said so himself and referred to the leaked information as old and nothing more than “embarrassing.”
However you are correct, serious crimes have indeed been committed. Most we wouldn’t know about if not for Wikileaks and Bradley Manning. He aided the enemy only if someone considers the American people to be the enemy.
Peace,

FeetToDaFire wrote a new diary post: Cartoonists For Gun Regulations
http://youtu.be/UKq9ZKZljlA A video developed by some well-known cartoonists who have been joined together to make the case for gun legislation. I liked the thought and was touched by the message but I also recognize that even with 90% of the people wanting new regulations, the politicians are too beholden to the NRA and gun manufacturers [...]

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post Are BRICS Agreements Signal of the Future Downfall of US Hegemony? by dakine01.
It seems true that the US interference in So America is no longer a major factor but they need to be vigilant, the imperialists are none too happy and will try any underhanded trick to reassert. I don’t blame Venezuela for investigating the causes of Chavez’ cancer for signs of foul play. Nothing surprises me [...]

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post Justice Denied: The Iraq Invasion by FeetToDaFire.
I never heard that quote from Eisenhower. He said a few very wise and prescient things. Too bad our politicos & the bulk of Americans didn’t pay attention. I feel there might just be is a subtle momentum moving in the direction of taking a serious look at the Bush era crimes & atrocities. Unfortunately, [...]

FeetToDaFire wrote a new diary post: Justice Denied: The Iraq Invasion
Most people believe, or at least suspect that Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld lied us into the war with Iraq. They all share in the responsibility for thousands of deaths of U.S. military personnel and hundreds of thousands of (some believable estimates as high as 1.2 million) Iraqi people. If it can be shown that [...]

I am glad it created some additional thought & discussion. It served its purpose as soon as it inspired Margo Schulter to write her phenomenally articulate statement about the drone program.

Elliot made a good point but you, wayoutwest made a better one. I guess the point I was trying to make (poorly as it may have been stated) was that we as a country/culture need to address why the children in Newtown got such a strong emotional response and the children killed in the ME [...]

FeetToDaFire wrote a new diary post: Child Victims
President Obama made an eloquent and heartfelt speech at the prayer vigil for the people who were killed in Connecticut. The fact that the majority of victims were very young children seems to have broken peoples’ hearts more than any of the other recent school shootings. I have to ask, does a 6 year old [...]

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post These Dead Children Had Names: In Memoriam…And the Living Under Drones Report by wendydavis.
I will do my best as we all should, to see to it that these innocents don’t die in vain. Not sure what it means to not “die in vain.” I can’t help but think that regardless of any “higher” purpose their death may represent to others, they and their families would rather not have [...]

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post These Dead Children Had Names: In Memoriam…And the Living Under Drones Report by wendydavis.
Wendy, Thank you for this post and especially for the list of children who have been killed. They have no less intrinsic value than the children of Sandy Hook & should be remembered and mourned. It seems to me that one of the reasons that this hateful & murderous policy is accepted by many Americans [...]

FeetToDaFire wrote a new diary post: A Compelling Need For The Right To Choose
It’s not possible that a sane and compassionate person could deny a victim of rape an abortion. Any person who would, is neither sane or compassionate. I won’t dignify the notion as some have suggested of a magical protective force which keeps women from getting pregnant from rape, except to say that each year approximately [...]

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post Will “No-High” Pot Change the Med-MJ Debate? by Teddy Partridge.
Teddy, Interesting post, thanks. imho, it is the combination of the anti-inflammatory and the THC high that makes mmj effective. People with serious illness benefit from the pain relief-nerve soothing-nausea relief, etc. as well as from the consciousness expanding, perspective changing effects of the “high.” At least that has been my experience. That being said, [...]

Obama’s crackdown on legal mmj has been totally inexplicable to me. However, the idea that he cut a deal with big Pharma to get parts of the Affordable Health Care Act included/passed makes complete sense. It has the ring of truth.

You are right about the “feral” hemp. We used to call it Ditch Weed, as it grew along the side of the road all through Wisconsin.

FeetToDaFire commented on the diary post Saturday Art: Webber Wildfire: A Terrifying Beauty by wendydavis.
Wendy- I also remember the “one that got away.” As I recall the burn should never have been attempted at that moment. I’m not sure what is the right thing to do. Left to nature, there would be plenty of fires but often in inconvenient places and with unmanageable conditions (like what’s happening now). I [...]

Thanks Wendy for the news updates and the beautiful and scary pics. Sorry you’re going through this. I am in NM for the next week or so before I go back to the Philippines. Big fires here also. So much drought NM, TX, AZ, CO, and more. Climate change? Nah… just coincidental random events. Yeah, [...]

FeetToDaFire wrote a new diary post: Explaining the Banking Crisis
Bill Moyers interviews Matt Taibbi (RollingStone) and Yves Smith (NakedCapitalism). Matt and Yves are extremely bright and well informed regarding the financial sector. The two of them have obvious respect for each other and come at the banking industry from different perspectives but arrive at the same point. All in all, it makes for a [...]
