firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Imprisoned CIA Torture Whistleblower John Kiriakou Pens “Letter from Loretto”
Liddy was “patriotic”? To whom? Not his country. Maybe to his tribe. But that’s not a country. Your attempt to equate John K. with Liddy is a failure in so many ways. And saying that there are “those who so love to hate their country” is divisive itself. It’s a cop-out.

The fact that you don’t comprehend the math used by Silver tells everything. Go back to Fox News and hope your mommy fills your bottle.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the diary post The Liberal Myth That Morbid Wealth Is Just Fine by masaccio.
Therein lies the problem. You act as if Wal-Mart always existed, and there’s nothing to do about it. Standard Oil once existed, but not anymore. The point is to level the playing field and now allow monopolies to govern by proxy. You can take your whining about whining somewhere else.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Romney Tries to Claim that Abortion Not an Executive Branch Issue
“Paul Ryan was quoted yesterday saying that the term “forcible rape” was “stock language”, which is why it was used in the No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act. I’m surprised he didn’t say “I don’t want to get wonky on you” beforehand.”
But there is no such thing as “stock language” in a legal document. It simply doesn’t exist. Federal lawyers pour over these legal documents to insure that they represent exactly the intentions of the lawmakers putting them forward. I expect the mainstream press to let “Ayn Ryan” get a pass on this, but not here.

Actually, the fact that someone is stupid enough to believe that biology is a matter for “magical thinking” is an important story. Of course, if you disagree you can always send your daughters around so I can clear up their acne.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Romney: Delay the Trigger Cuts
So Ronald Reagan took over the worst economy since the Great Depression? Who would have known. But if you’re going to rewrite history, why not go further than Reagan inheriting a defeated population? Why not call Iran-Contra the first “Arab Spring”? Why not call Reagan’s tripling of the deficit “the shot heard ’round the world”. You must have graduated from Glenn Beck’s online university.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Gunman in Wisconsin Sikh Temple Shooting Suspected as a White Supremacist
It’s always an “act of domestic terrorism” when turbaned people get in the way of white guys firing off bullets to prove their 2nd amendment rights. Those non-Christian people weren’t asked to come here, now were they?

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Mitt Romney would restore “Anglo-Saxon” understanding to the special relationship between the U.S. and Britain
I’m already preparing for an Anglo-Saxon attack. With out military weakened by two wars, we don’t stand a chance against these fur-clad marauders. Thanks, Obama, for not understanding who our enemies are and to whom we should apologize. The next thing you know, we’ll be fighting Picts and Normans.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Sen. Jim DeMint doesn’t like being called out for his homophobia
This is hardly the first time DeMint has said this. When he first ran for the senate against Democrat Inez Tennenbaum, he said the same thing, only worse, and included “unmarried mothers” as not being fit to teach our children. It works well in South Carolina, because South Carolina has a strong culture of bigotry and racism. I know, I worked there for almost two decades. I passed four Confederate flags going to work each day. But when DeMint crosses over the border into DC, he should be held accountable for his venal stupidity.

…”unnatural, detrimental and ultimately destructive to foundations of civilization”.
I would say that anything Kirk Cameron has performed in also meets these same negative requirements. Perhaps he is only projecting. And yes, there is something wrong with that.

“Sodomy Based Marriage.”
Sounds like an advertisement for the Catholic Church: “Only a union between a priest and an altar boy will be recognized by God as holy matrimony.”
As Morrissey said: “There’s no such thing as normal.”

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Polling: President Has Failed on Housing, Wall Street Accountability
The stimulus wasn’t close to a trillion dollars. As Krugman pointed out at the time, it was way too small to affect the economic hole Bush had dug for us. At least get your numbers right before you make fake accusations about “saviors”.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Polling: President Has Failed on Housing, Wall Street Accountability
“One could argue that Democrats in the House and Senate would line up against Romney for the sake of appearances, as they did at times against Bush. This would equal a better outcome for the American people.”
I call this the George Will argument for divided government, since that anti-intellectual, intellectual brings out this argument every time it looks like Republicans might lose an election. It has no basis in reality and every basis in punditry, and as with any other specious logic it assumes the benefit of one’s own predjudices. It goes along with the “9/11 brought our country together” arguments of people like Glenn Beck. Obama will govern more to the left when the left makes him govern that way. Why do you think he made a weak move to solve the health care crisis? Because it was expected of him and he had no choice. Republicans have nothing but destruction planned for any election they win. “One could argue” that your argument has no basis in reality.

I think this atrocity against free speech was many things, but I immediately thought that Bloomburg was making a Donald Trump play for a chance at the Republican Party nomination. Or at least a vice-presidential bid. This was a free, Karl Rove Crossroads commercial. Wait and see.

firstpersoninfinite commented on the diary post Rep John L Lewis Joins 100+ House Members to Define Dissent from Boehner’s DOMA Effort by Teddy Partridge.
I would be glad to see a Congressional vote on a “Belief in Marriage Act”. That would quickly get rid of the DOMA. And then make all the divorced people pay back the tax credits they enjoyed just for being married for awhile – that’s a true Ponzi scheme. It’s discrimination to refuse to allow [...]

firstpersoninfinite commented on the blog post Obama Administration Releases Guidelines for No Child Left Behind Waivers
But what if the locals aren’t interested? Or only interested in pushing their uneducated notions of creationism or whites-only history? “No Mind Left To Shine” was really just that – an attempt to take education out of the hands of those who have to live with the consequences. It’s the Terry Shiavo version of educational reform – kill the patient with kindness to make them moral. We need to bite the bullet and push education to the level of the rest of the industrialized world. And for those who can’t go to college, make arrangements for them as quickly as possible, so they can become useful members of society. The right to fail and be a stupid adult should not be a possibility.

“Israel braced for protests and rallies among gleeful Palestinians by deploying 22,000 police officers around the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Protests are expected to be peaceful, but obviously this is a volatile part of the world, and provocateurs could lead to violence.”
And you failed to add,”on either side”.
