fritzrth commented on the blog post Meteorologist fired for civil response to an ignorant Facebook post by a viewer about her natural hair
This kind of treatment doesn’t surprise me at all coming from Louisiana.
Ms. Lee’s response was outstanding, succinct, well reasoned, and done with much more politeness and consideration than I would have been able to manage. For the station to have fired her, and then not being able to point to a legitimate reason for their actions is egregious. They should have been supporting her.
Hopefully, Ms. Lee can file a suit for wrongful termination. She should.

… while it’s not covering up the activities of priests exploiting children as sex objects
Don’t you mean “… while it is covering up …”?
Calling the Roman hierarchy out for its egregious, despicable abetting the crimes of pedophiles is not disrespecting anyone’s faith. It has nothing to do with their faith. It’s simply calling criminals criminals.
Being a religious leader should never be an excuse to turn a legal blind eye to their actions, but we continue to see the government allowing these abettors get away with actions that would have landed anyone else in jail. It’s time to start arresting these people.

fritzrth commented on the blog post Salvation Army official says ‘gays must die’; organization now says he ‘miscommunicated’
So, the Salvation Army is now saying it doesn’t adhere to Biblical teachings, after all; or, publicly at least, only to those that it believes are palatable and won’t draw criticism.

…subject to my moral authority as Archbishop of New York.
What moral authority? My son, the Catholic Church gave that up centuries ago.

The question has to be, is Nienstedt ready to barter the integrity of his Catholic diocese in order to stop marriage equality?
The Catholic church has integrity?

fritzrth commented on the blog post Save California’s Thomasson: Slaughtered Larry King harassed his murderer
Christians of this ilk, believe that it’s their holy duty to make absolutely certain that life is as miserable and close to hell as possible for those who don’t believe as they do. And they’ll do everything in their power to make it so.

fritzrth commented on the blog post Save California’s Thomasson: Slaughtered Larry King harassed his murderer
Oh, yeah. Everyone knows that when he was being constantly bullied by McInerny the correct response was to run home home crying and cowering in shame. God forbid a kid should stand up for himself.
That’s what Thomasson so conveniently leaves out; that Larry King had endured years of bullying, much of it at the hands of McInerny. And for having the courage to stand up to it, he was murdered in cold blood.
