Obama is a devout Christian. Homosexuality and abortion make him uncomfortable – at least his actions/inactions demonstrate that discomfort.

In Atlanta, the AJC wrote article after article outlining what was happening in the airport with the new security measures. All of the articles quoted people who didn’t mind and who said the fuss was silly. Each article also had a blocked section explaining how safe the pornoscan was. The local tv stations did similar “reports”. Censorship apparently is self imposed.

I didn’t expect much from Obama but he’s managed to surprise me. I thought I voted for a moderate Democrat when in fact I voted for a polite sociopath.

ml commented on the blog post 2012 Poll: Obama Still Leading All Republican Candidates
The best comparison I’ve read: Obama is like David Dinkins, former mayor of NY, who was very well meaning but about as ineffective as a politician can be. NYers got so fed up with well meaning nothings they voted in Guiliani, whom almost no one actually liked.

RE worst headline – the problem is that Obama did learn from Bush.

How apt: the FBI creates the problem and then fixes it. Rather like a fireman setting fires and then putting them out. But that fireman if caught would be called an arsonist, not a hero.

Don’t National Treasures have some leeway in following the law? Unlike celebrities, National Treasures add back to society.

What strikes me as interesting in this debate is that the vast majority of folks who think pornoscan and invasive patdown are fine are men. Josh Marshall and Kevin Drum both think it’s fine. Josh is more fine with it now that the Republicans are frothing at the mouth about it. (The blinders of partisanship). But women like those here and digby object. Women in this narrative are immature and hysterical. Misogyny never dies.
And I love the argument that this is not an important issue. The fourth Amendment is not as important as other issues. It’s like saying that climate change is not as important as the wars in the Middle East or that finding the causes of autism are not as important as finding the causes of prostate cancer. All are important.

If you don’t like being groped at the airport, don’t fly.
If you don’t like censorship, don’t write.
