The assault has been on freedom-loving citizens by a president who believes he is entitled to mandate
anything he wants under the aegis of Obamacare. This fight is not about contraceptives! The fact
that someone is foolish enough to sacrifice personal freedom for $4/month birth control pills defies
reason. The “food police” are already confiscating lunches that don’t meet federal guidelines from 4 year olds. How long before salt, sugar, tobacco, alcohol, exercise, etc. will fall under federal mandates?
FYI. There is no Constitutional right for “free” contraceptives. Access is readily available regardless of
who pays. Toothpaste is a necessary health product but no one expects the government to pay for it.
Wake Up before you turn over your personal choices to a chronically incompetent government. There
is no such thing as “free”. -

This exhibits the danger of expecting regulators to save us. Dodd/Frank did not even come close to addressing the major contributors to the financial collapse – derivatives, Fannie/Freddie, or appropriate capital and margin requirements. The other major dangers that are not being addressed – high frequency trading, “dark pools”, and ETFs. Contrary to the implication [...]

What I found conspicuously missing from the above treatise was any historical or current example
of successful government controlled economies and redistributions of wealth. I believe confiscation of private property to be regifted by bureaucrats was the plan in Russia, Cuba, and others. All were enormously unsuccessful, endured only through tyranny and destroyed freedom, growth and prosperity
in the process. How anyone could look at the incompetence of this government but still believe it is the best arbiter of finance defies all reality. Not only is government corrupt, unqualified, and constrained by having to find the lowest common denominator, it is unaccountable for even its most colossal mistakes. Even though Obama’s propaganda machine has found success in placing all blame on Wall St, government’s past and continuing role in the economic collapse is enormous. The Fed continues to print money, the SEC has expanded powers and Obama has spent $5 trillion more than revenues without improvement in employment. How much proof does one need? Competition, regulations and common sense force the private sector to be accountable or go out of business. The current collusion between government and special interests, whether with unions, GE or agriculture, is offensive and should be curbed. But giving the government more economic control and expecting wisdom, integrity or accountability is insane. I’ll take my chances with the best and brightest in industry not with unelected bureaucrats or mobs in the street. The left slides into criticism of the 1% with ease but never considers how much worse government control would be. You be the judge – Solyndra or Apple??? Claims that the current situation proves the fallacy of capitalism totally ignore the debilitating and destructive effect that bad government policy has had on “free markets”. Pruning the tax code of ALL special interest benefits would be a good first step towards fairness and integrity. The extreme diversity and size of this
country precludes there ever being success with socialism. 1% can not pay the way of the other 99%
nor should it. -

The left must stop implying that there is ANY way for Medicare and SS to continue as they are.
Every honest analysis shows it is not possible even if the “rich” paid much more in taxes. Just
for perspective consider that they are only 234,000 who earn over $1 million and of those only
8,426 earn over $10 million. Way too few to cover health care and retirement for the other
308,000,000!!!!! No one wants to throw the old and poor over the cliff, but to protect the
programs for the future they MUST be adjusted to reflect the changing actuary information.
If Obama had honorable intentions to reduce the deficit, he would have supported the Simpson/Bowles
plan a year ago and America would have been spared this circus. As of now his only strategy for
reelection is to have the committee fail so he can continue blaming the Repubs for his failed agenda. -
giatny commented on the blog post The Poll Result that Should Scare the Obama Campaign the Most
I should be more relieved that the public is beginning to see what I have known for
over two years. However, the extent to which the MSM continues to be willfully blind
is astounding. I can not count the number of times that the press implies that all
would be well if only the Republicans hadn’t blocked Obama’s agenda! His agenda
wasn’t blocked. We are suffering from every misspent dollar and regulation that he
has crammed down the throats of the people. He is clueless, duplicitous, malevolent,
subversive, and more destructive to the foundation of the country than any leader
before him.
