If I missed it, please accept my apologies; but it looks like the environmental awareness aspect of DHF-dom was left out (beguiner @21 alludes to it with the observations on rad/nuc stuff) . The “Whole-Earth” ethos was a kind of glue that interconnected issues of the day, and us with each other.

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the blog post Condoleeza Rice Wants a Do-Over After Destroying Iraq
Hm. Politicians. Boy.
They are just not not very smart.
All they demonstrate any competence in is getting elected, getting appointed, or getting others elected or appointed. For some inexplicable reason, the rest of us accept these specific competencies as qualifications for leadership.
Non sequitur.
Absurd.

OWS is not doing party politics.
We’re here!
We’re unclear!
Get used to it!

Yeah, I hear ya.
I just don’t think we’re that stupid.
Do you?
I don’t expect anything different from them (see the parable of the Scorpion and the Frog http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scorpion_and_the_Frog).

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the diary post The Co-option Continues: SEIU Invokes ‘#Occupy’ Movement In Obama Endorsement by jest.
This is not cooptation.
Nor is it hijacking of the movement. It is lying.
That is all.
The Occupy movement has not changed any values, beliefs, or tactics as a result of these lies.
So,..

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the diary post A shooting near Occupy Oakland by hotflashcarol.
Hm.
Did this murder not take place in the City of Oakland’s jurisdiction, committed by its residents? By the impaired logic used by camp opponents on the city council and elsewhere, City Hall should be “dismantled” immediately! The combined cowardice, stupidity, and anti-intellectualism of professional politicians still has the power to astound me.

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the blog post Labor, Occupy Wall Street Teaming Up on Burgeoning Occupy Foreclosures Movement
Occupy and Labor are obvious allies (99%!).
We just have to keep a watchful eye on Trumka (AFL-CIO), who it seems, will sell out intertwined sustainable work/sustainable environment issues for political access, expediency, and status.

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the diary post Tar Sands Protest Shows Unity, Tension in Green-Labor Alliance by Michelle Chen.
I am a member of organized labor (IAFF, AFL-CIO). The “leadership” does not speak for me on this issue. I suspect that is true for most of us in the membership at large.
This smells like inside-politics horse-trading.
It smells rotten.

I will be looking for ways to marginalize Trumka (Shame!) among the front-line workers within AFL-CIO. Uphill battle. That is one deeply-entrenched status quo embracing business-as-usual establishment lackey MF-er!

Gordon Ginsberg commented on the diary post Occupy Raleigh, NC (Part 5) Occupation is Complicated by gnomedigest.
Hm. Very good point. We happen to be uniquely poised, perhaps, to deal with uncertainties of the street a little better than others. Among our occupiers is an E.R. doc, an active-duty Firefighter/EMT who formerly worked as a social-service provider to dual-diagnosis homeless populations, an EMT, and several community first-responder trained individuals. Many of our [...]

If someone is perceived to violate our social contract, we try to open a mutually respectful non-judgmental low-key conversation about what OccupyMemphis [...]
