GorillasGuides wrote a new diary post: Cancelling This week’s “Guide To Islam; As Seen Through Muslim Eyes”
I am cancelling posting this week’s “Guide To Islam; As Seen Through Muslim Eyes” as there seem to still be problems with posting. There are random redirects taking place when we try to access this posting. There are also random redirects taking place when I try to access the posting in which Bill Egnor asked for reports [...]

@ KellyCanfieldDenver June 26th, 2011 at 10:59 am There is a simple and accurate description for them and that is that they are barbaric. I regard Wahabi doctrines as unIslamic and as vicious and depraved and as tending to foster viciousness and depravity amongst its leaders and its followers. I look forward to the day [...]

@ KellyCanfieldDenver June 26th, 2011 at 10:59 am They are very corrupt I agree. Yes it is a large family as they in common with most non-Westerners use the word “family” to mean the extended family. As to the boy being executed I do not remember the case but they execute so many that that [...]

@ KellyCanfieldDenver June 26th, 2011 at 10:36 am The notes should be floated over to one side and a border to their left margin so that the reader can immediately see which part of the guide they refer to. This worked perfectly last week and indeed on all previous occasions according to both of them. [...]

If you try to say it more slowly so that the syllables are clearer you may find it easier. The sounds are difficult foreigners to master but you that was perfectly compehensible.

Peace to you Laura and thank you, the process they adopt (and the spirit in which they implement it) almost guarantees a retrogressive result. It is unique to them even very strict Salafists do not carry it to that extreme.

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. This posting is the thirty-second in our series of "Guides to Islam Through Muslim Eyes" and is the second introducing the school of thought of that is often called the "Wahhabi" school by its critics and by westerners. In the first part of this guide Abu Dubhaltach (markfromireland) continues his brief introduction to the [...] -

@ KellyCanfieldDenver June 19th, 2011 at 12:58 pm The key word is mind set the early Muslims were very enquiring and very practical nor were they afraid of following their thoughts to their logical conclusions. The reforms that Ibn Taymiyya and following him Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahab were calling for were to sweep away later accretions [...]

I should finish by saying that superlatives about anybody, along the lines that they wrote “the last word”, to use the English expression, on a topic is lay oneself open to the worst kind of disappointment. The last word on anything belongs to Allah who knows best. Allah in his mercy and compassion has given [...]

@ KellyCanfieldDenver June 19th, 2011 at 11:57 am That would be a very wrong assumption. Those who are Salafi – truly Salafi have an approach which is an interpretation of the texts of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah. In fact it is a body of interpretations. Reputable scholars who advance the claims of Salafism [...]

Next week’s “Guide to Islam through Muslim eyes” deals with the life and teachings of Muhammad Ibn Abd-al-Wahhab and those who follow his teachings often called in the west “Wahabbis”.
Fatima will check back tomorrow to see if there are any questions.
