Mitt was off the isle of human dignity at the 13 percent tax bill. Now the satisfaction comes from knowing all his supporters will be choking on their own hate filled bile every time they vote or talk him up.

greengiant commented on the blog post Brazil Passes the UK As Sixth Largest Economy
Indeed, one wonders when the globalization of finance workers will leave us all entertained by off shored debt collectors.
http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/lms/labour-market-statistics/january-2010/index.html
The UK reports over 6 million of 26 million private sector workers are in the financial and business services sector. But this is a natural process when continual advances in technology and productivity mean fewer and fewer workers are needed in resource extraction, manufacturing or even service industry.
The big job losses in the Northwest US forest industry did not occur when they ran out of trees to cut. They occurred when they modernized the mills.

greengiant commented on the blog post Media Catches Glimpse of Undeclared Covert War With Iran
Well if the conficker virus was made by the US and infects millions of computers in the US, one would suspect that the US government has “broken and entered” millions of American homes.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/02/us-cybersecurity-iran-idUSTRE7B10AP20111202
Which makes one wonder how the right wingnuts offering to sabotage, cell phone hack, and computer sabotage get their methods of operation. Are they running the scams in the US through an off shore center aka a non US entity?

greengiant commented on the blog post Do-Nothing Option on Deficits Finally Gets Noticed
The end of the Bush tax cuts maybe a 1% win win, a massive increase in taxes paid by low income folk, reductions in earned income tax credit, etc etc, . The 1% already threw the 2nd through 5th% under the bus with the alternative minimum tax.
The 1% dont pay taxes, they avoid them. By selling their stock and real estate, but in tax adviced way such that it is not income.

The DHS and FBI phone conferences with the mayors should be a psychological study in some cognitive bender similar to the students “electrocuting” their victims.
Go figure, the Obama Executive has been playing the same tune, the Washington DC police take the clothes off the pipeline protesters and put them in unheated jail cells. Makes you wonder what the information and policy flow is from the Obama Executive down to the locals.
And the campus cop must have been envious he didnt have a rocket propelled tear gas grenade to shoot horizontally to fracture an innocent veteran.s skull.

greengiant commented on the diary post Occupy: Is this a wise use of resources? by dakine01.
The Occupy movements are making it quite obvious who is bought and paid for by Wall Street. The Portland Oregon police chief just spent over 600 officers making all of about 48 arrests while delaying 3 hours to send an officer to a rape victim. And the chief has been talking about running for mayor. [...]

greengiant commented on the blog post “I have fully lost faith in the leadership of my parents’ generation”
Just what the manipulators want, age/race warfare over the shrinking pie while the 1 percent have gotten richer and richer and their talking heads spout about how the 1 percent is rotating (NOT) .
Yes 50 year olds and 20 year olds are later and latest to the trough.
The “greatest” generation, the one who benefited from the demographic scarcity to scarf up a higher ratio of jobs and wealth, and get a double dip of the frontloading of social security and medicare benefits for which they paid much much less in taxes for.http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2011/11/07/the-rising-age-gap-in-economic-well-being/
Yah, those people, the ones who got the first tier in the Federal and state pension plans and UAW jobs etc etc.
The American Pie is getting smaller, and that needs to be talked about. A good start is to follow the money.

greengiant commented on the blog post Late Night FDL: That Which Does Not Kill Herman Cain…
I sense Cain’s support will only grow. Some would prefer a misogynist harasser than a random death dealing Texas governator.
IMO the Occupy Wall Street and Cain’s support are a common theme, anything else has got to be better than the “bought and paid for” two party politicians we have now.
The talking heads were all about how “unprofessional” etc,etc Cain was and his entertainment hour will soon end.
I’m not so sure. More and more voters are figuring out the Executive and the Congress have the US steered straight on the road to Hell with the accelerator stuck in the full on position.
When the professional DNC threatens to “primary” any internal opposition it gives “professional” a new meaning.
IMO not only are people going to stop giving to the DNC and RNC unless they have a corporate lobbying interest, but the people are going to flock to the nearest jack ass who is not a politician. -
greengiant commented on the blog post Colossally Low Residential Investment Due to Fraudulent Housing Market
Follow the money, don’t blame the victims. Who made money during the housing bubble and the massive misallocation of resources and investment.
The land developers, the builders, the mortgage brokers, the mortgage securitization investment banks, the ratings agencies, the realtors, the insurance companies …
Give them a scam, and they will come.
North America has been one long land development corrupted blight for 400 years. Just for one example George Washington was America’s largest landowner and owned property that was prohibited from development until the British were taken out.
Today the name of the game is how much profit developers can make by having the developer owned body politic build their infrastructure.Follow the money, follow the lobbyists, follow the campaign contributions, follow the revolving door government and private jobs.
I wonder how much 20,000 dollar a year janitors spent on lobbying legislation the last 10 years.

greengiant commented on the blog post Designing a Worthwhile Mortgage Plan
We can’t write enough about the housing bubble and debt enslavement of millions. There has been 6 to 10 Trillion of equity vanished from the height of the bubble. Prices are below 2000 prices in some places.
The refinance, principal paydown, and mediation programs would help those on the edge of the barrel, but not those at the bottom.
The 50 Billion Tarp money compares against the what, 10 million homeowners
under water, that is only 5,000 an house. But with the Republican Congress and their debt ceiling I wonder what will happen here, or when Fannie and Freddie ask for more money.

greengiant commented on the diary post New York Times Editorializes on Budget Policy in Pension Article by Dean Baker.
We can start by divesting the state and public pension systems of their Wall Street scammer capture and addiction to shedding pension equity to Wall Street. The US state, federal and other government bodies should forbid the government pension investments in Wall Street’s favoriate scams, i.e. derivatives, interest rate swaps between fixed and variable rates, [...]

Think HAMP, any US program to the financial industry is only going to line the Bankers’ and their friends’ pockets. Damn the customer and increase the take home dominates US “corporations” today.
The yardstick used to retain and promote executives, i.e. short term profits, has winnowed out anyone with a shred of ethics and rewarded the those who can best cook the books. The whistleblowers get terminated with prejudice. No one home at all in the accounting, regulatory, or prosecutorial agencies. Time to reread Upton Sinclair and extrapolate. -

Lessons from 1968.
A. You will know the NYPD is serious when they have enough buses to pick up everyone in Zuccotti. Which they probably do somewhere if they have the red nets around it.
B. You will know they are serious when they have put fence and barbed wire around the mass detention center, the stockyards, port terminal, stadium, wherever …
Which will be game point and match when people keep showing up to be arrested day after day.

What I want for Christmas is to see the US AG impeached, and all regulatory, investigative and prosecuting political appointments handed their pink slips, and then I want to see the FBI supervising agents arresting and US AGs and local prosecutors start prosecuting the malefactors, including anyone in the US who committed fraud, forgery, obstruction of justice, destruction of evicence, and/or conspiracy.
