Kevin Baron commented on the blog post FBI Investigation into Leaks & the Threat to Press Freedom (VIDEO)
the really sad part is that the government is supposed to represent the people, and the first amendment was put into place in order to protect the press, specifically so there could be a mechanism in place to disseminate government information to the people. Now, when we have government officials who decide to report wrongdoing, fraud, abuse and other misdeeds, they are punished by the same people who are supposed to represent them for merely trying to hold those officials accountable for their actions…the abuse faced by whistle-blowers is appalling and disgraceful…

Kevin Baron commented on the blog post Robert Gibbs, Valerie Jarrett Subpeoenaed to Appear in Dan Choi Tar Sands Hearing This Wednesday
I am glad I was able to help…this abuse of power cannot stand…at least it heartens me to know that good people are fighting back, but we all need to do our part in ending these kinds of transgressions…and yes, the White House pandering on DADT repeal is comical when placed into this perspective…ridiculous..

Jane…glad to see that you are also standing up for this farce of a trial and infringement upon Dan’s constitutional rights…this crap is so infuriating…especially as the White House is trying to bask in the glow of repealing DADT…please tell Dan to stand strong and we are with him…

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Apple Helps DoD Keep iPhone Customers Ignorant About Drone Strike Deaths by Jane Hamsher.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad…the research out there on the contractors and the ties with DOD is scary…For example, I will stick with Lockheed as I have been recently researching the F-35 program…As of right now, we (the taxpayers) are on the hook to buy 2450 F-35s, the new 5th generation [...]

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Apple Helps DoD Keep iPhone Customers Ignorant About Drone Strike Deaths by Jane Hamsher.
that is true…and Lockheed in particular has downsized over the past several years, while now working in ‘parnership’ with companies based overseas…the other side of this technological boom gives the industry to the ability to sell an increase in spending as a job creator program…all while the crackdown on information, with the cooperation of all [...]

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Apple Helps DoD Keep iPhone Customers Ignorant About Drone Strike Deaths by Jane Hamsher.
Eisnehower said it best over 50 years ago…beware the military-industrial-congressional complex. An earlier version of that speech, Eisnehower included the congressional part. He removed it from the final version because he he claimed he was already taking on the military and defense contractors, he didn’t want to take on Congress too. The problem is that [...]

I agree, except that I believe that currently Jeb is still too much Bush to be elected and Mitch Daniels has accepted to be the president of Purdue University…I think Rubio would play well among various subgroups of GOP voters, while also picking up certain moderate/independent voters…I just can’t think of anyone else this year [...]

it’s kinda funny because I was thinking about Jeb too, but I keep telling myself that we would never vote another Bush president, but I am not so sure any longer…and yes, you are absolutely correct in your assessment of his ability to fuck things up worse…

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Romney and Republican Congress Will Wipe Out All Small Business Programs by Lloyd Chapman.
the thing that surprises me the most is how President Obama and congressional Democrats don’t seize on this issue more. The GOP has always claimed the mantle of the party of small business, but it has never been borne out in actual policy and through their actions. Especially these days, congressional Democrats have put forward [...]

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Morning Rant, brought to you by my Inner Conspiracy Theorist – Will Mitt Make It? by Kevin Baron.
Something to add as a side note while I am ranting…I am so tired of retiring members of Congress complaining about how they are leaving Congress because the atmosphere in Washington has become too partisan and too negative and there is no more room for compromise…and blah blah blah. What a load of bullshit! Of [...]

Kevin Baron wrote a new diary post: Morning Rant, brought to you by my Inner Conspiracy Theorist – Will Mitt Make It?
Ok…so I have been trying to ignore my inner conspiracy theorist for some time regarding this election, but I feel compelled to throw something out to you and see what you think. While I believe that it is true that Mitt Romney is a mediocre candidate at best, he falls into the category of the [...]

Kevin Baron commented on the blog post The Worst Administration on FOIA
two years ago the associated press ran a story showing the first year of the Obama administration was worse than the last year of the Bush administration when it came to fulfilling FOIA requests…even though one of Obama’s first actions in taking office was to put forward an executive order to all agencies telling them to err on the side of transparency…apparently the memo is still in the mail…

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Jobs, Jobs, Jobs Can Only Be Achieved With Small Businesses by Lloyd Chapman.
as much as it pains me to say this…it seems like some things never change…perhaps if there was some kind of serious campaign finance reform (HA! after citizen’s united I am sure it will never happen) then our elected officials will no longer be beholden to special interests. I lost hope for President Obama to [...]

Kevin Baron commented on the diary post Why FOIA Is Important by Kevin Baron.
Thanks Jane and Brian…I am glad to offer any help I can with this. As I have experience with FOIA, it really is a great tool to use and the best part is, the law is on our side with it…unfortunately, not too many agency FOIA officers see it that way, but we can change [...]
