Society in general suffers from a lack of knowledge. Most do not recognize that the PTB endeavor to loot the economy. Americans still believe in the institutions that have been looting them.
For example, they believe that the collapse of the Real Estate market was accidental and/or that it was an aberration. In reality, it was a classic Pump and Dump scheme – albeit on a grand scale.
I think what ecahn is saying is that it doesn’t matter whether people or publics have the knowledge or not. The PTB are going to roll on no matter what the people know or think.
She points to Greece, et al, as examples of societies which have been rolled. They continue to be looted in spite of the fact that these are countries with better-engaged and more knowledgable citizenry.

First, we must consider that people who enlist in the Military are young and they are significantly lacking life experience.
The opinions of young people are therefore sophomoric.
Second, at nearly every juncture, their opinions were formed, developed and influenced by a massive institutionalized propaganda juggernaut.
It is nearly inescapable. Practically impossible for an 18 year old to have been fed otherwise. The 18 year old who considers joining the Military, will be thusly indoctrinated. (My Country – right or wrong! Fight them there so we don’t have to fight them here, etc.)
If you joined, you joined with your sophomoric opinion, indoctrinated. If you can educate yourself, your opinion may “evolve” like Obama said his did.

…gays in uniform hold a strongly different view.
Sure they do. If you work in the Meat Grinder, you must justify it for yourself. The simplest method is via groupthink which feeds and maintains the illusion that you are righteous – and patriotic. (The self-perpetuating GWOT serves two main purposes, Resource extraction for Corporations and the creation of an endless supply of anti-American terrorists.)
…and when they pointed that out, the members of the committee stepped back. End of story.
The members of the committee surrendered their principles.

We have devolved into a discussion about the arbitrary rules (disagreement equates to stinking up the place). Cute.
Thanks to You and TBogg and to the Troops for preserving our freedom.

Were they not the lowest level secret (not top secret) docs?
Which ones were damaging to Nat’l Security?
Or is that a secret, too?
Didn’t Ellsberg state that his own doings were far more damaging to the State?
IMHO, Manning represents among other things, a strong (perhaps the strongest) anti-war (anti-MIC) symbol.
Dumping Manning is representative of caving to the mainstream corporate political pressure (which is ubiquitous).

…It does seem a bit much to make that the symbol of Pride in the year where so much has been accomplished in terms of gains in both the military and civilian settings…
Don’t want to get greedy. Can’t go for Equality AND Anti-War.
The Corporations will get really pissed and take away the gains!

…intellectually lazy dispenser of witless snark on her site. He’s an embarrassment, and his conservadem views are completely antithetical to everything the site stands for. Perhaps he generates revenue that serves as a subsidy…
Now Ackerman’s got a gig at The Guardian. Conservadem views could get TBogg to The Big Show, too. There’s no place for real liberals on the pseudo-left end of the MSM.

Stand on principle or back down because you fear the opposition.
The latter portion of this statement has become the platform of the Democratic Party.

Atty Holder represented United Fruit Company aka Chiquita Banana in Columbia. The company poisoned workers with chemicals and when the employees went on strike, they were gunned down and murdered.
This is the kind of shitbird that is Oilbomber’s AG Eric Holder.

Check out the ignorant poster – extolling “God’s pattern for marriage”. The Right is the Right no matter where it exists.
Importantly, “God’s pattern for marriage” is Polygamy.

So, what do you think about Obama? Are his hands tied? Are the mean old Republicans making him do his Tuesday Drone Murder Picks?
These fuckhead Presidents we’ve had, 8 years of one complete asshole and we’ll have eight years of another and JEB after that.
I think Oilbomber rather enjoys his Cockstrutting Tuesdays.

Summers is pretending to be ignorant of the scam. Summers knows that Superheated Real Estate Prices, Liars’ Loans, Collateralized Debt Obligations, Credit Default Swaps and The Biggest Short in the History of The World were designed to “perform” (Wall Street parlance) exactly as they had fucking performed.

Like Obamacare, Komen facilitated the Health Insurance Industry. Free Komen Breast Cancer Screenings would sometimes reveal abnormal breast tissue in uninsured (of course) women.
Thus, these women could get neither insurance nor a free biopsy.
Good to know you’ve got a problem that you can’t afford to fix.
Thanks, Komen.

The Police and MIC are primarily assholes.
